I read a review that suggested the part would break
when installing. I suggest pre-drilling your rod with a 1/8 inch drill in the center of the butt handle. If the rod handle is a snug fit in the rubber you may have to trim off a good portion of the rubber to get it far enough up the handle. you still will have plenty of room for the
balancing weights.
The kit furnishes a good selection of weights.
I ended up using a single 2 oz weight.

Very good idea on balancing the rod, especially I'm using a centerpin. However, this product is very easy to break. If you try twisting it too hard when screwing it into the rod hadle, the butt cap of this balancing kit will break. Super glue fixed it for me, but it shouldn't happen. I further used some water tight, fusion silicon tape to tape around the balancing kit and my rod handle to make it water tight and strong. Then use some tennis racket tape to wrap around it for much stronger support.
I'll buy this product again but also expecting it to break. So, get some super glue handy.
Also, the shipping is extremely slow. It took more than 2 week for it to arrive. Next time I would try picking it up myself.

This kit worked well to balance my rod that had it's foam bottom unscrew and get lost. This kit threads VERY far into the rod butt I'm guessing to accomodate all of the weights in the event you wanted to use all of them at once. My particular rod only needed 1 weight to be balanced so this resulted in the foam handle being threaded almost 2 inches up on the rod. Other than that it is perfect.
I WOULD recommend.

I installed it on my Okuma SST rod without any thread on the handle. I just drill a hole and screw it in. Just make sure the rod hadle diameter fits. However, I strongly recommand you to get some 3M fusion silicon tape and tennis racket handle tape to wrap around it. Otherwise, it may come loose or break off.A:Â

This kit only works if the very butt end of the rod that you are using unscrews. If not there is another weight kit that you can use. I also have some of those and they work very good as well.A:Â
If a cap unscrews at the rods base and there are threads in the end it should work...the balance kit has to thread in the end of the rod..1 of 1
