Bass Pro Shops XPS Spinnerbait Trailer with Tubing
I don' buy these hooks to use on a spinnerbait. I buy these hooks for bait fishing in salt water. I've caught several stripers in the forty inch range using a 3/0 with bloodworm in the delaware bay. Also the 2/0 and shedder crab works great for weakfish!!!

As trailer hooks go, these are probably fine. But the tubing I received with them was a disappointing surprise, especially after all the good merchandise and service I've received from Bass Pro Shops throughout the years.
It wasn't the tan-colored, elastic, surgical tubing you usually get with trailer hooks (and which was advertised in the photo). The tubing that came with my hooks was pinkish in color and made of a harder material. Now, I have no problem with the color or the fact that it felt different. But the material is brittle, I guess, because it splits immediately or eventually after you put a bait hook through it. Once it splits, it doesn't hold the trailer hook firmly and the tubing eventually will split all the way around and fall off.
FYI - I searched for materials around the house and started using clear vinyl "aquarium airline" tubing instead of the pink stuff. I find that it fits perfectly over the eye of a 3/0 trailer hook, fits adequately over a 2/0, stays very snug and strong with a hook through it, and fishes fine.

This is a great way to rig a trailer to a spinnerbait. I always use the red hook for extra flash. I like put the trailer hook on the bait, and then place the tubing on top of it so the hook can move.

I have been using these hooks on my spinner baits (But not in a heavily weeded area.) and buzz baits for at least 5 years.
They are a much better price per hook than the competition.
They stay on solidly in position. The rubber tubing works fine. I have yet to lose a fish that has been hooked on the trailer.
I no longer even bother looking at other brands.
