Points bend over. I haved used these hooks for about a year. I have had the points bend over a few times now. I always have a file with me to re-sharpen them. They are inexpensive, but I know I have missed fish because of the weak points. I fish in Florida where any bite could be a 10 pounder. I am now replacing them with a more reliable worm hook. XPS Offset Hooks These hooks are excellent for the price, and do what they are mean to do - catch fish! The only (minor) negative I have found is that the red hooks tend to scrape a bit easily, showing the bronze underneath. Other than that, these hooks perform as expected. September 8, 2011
TERRIFIC HOOK As good as any hook from any MFG at any price. The ratings people would call this a BEST BUY !!!!! August 9, 2010
Stay away I tried a pack of the XPS 2/0 size because they were on sale. Have to say that I was disappointed. The points were plenty sharp out of the pack but do not stay that way. Instead, they roll over very easily, sometimes even after hanging up on weeds. While I did catch fish, several times I found that the hook points were gone when I unhooked the catch. This was not a matter of heavy use. They were new hooks fresh out of the pack. For hooks that stay sharp, look elsewhere. July 13, 2006

2/0 for standard size plastic worms. 3/0 for bulkier soft plastic baits. 4/0 or 5/0 for soft jerk baits.

Really depends on what lure you use. I normally use 2/0 hooks with Berkley Gulp! 7" worms.

Staff Answer
A:
Hook size should be matched with the size of the bait. If throwing a very small worm (such as a 4" bait) going with a 1/0 hook would be the prefered choice, however, when throwing large baits such as a 10" worms, it should be suggested to use a 5/0 hook.
