Rated 5 out of 5 by Great buy For years I would use an auto battery charger after disconnecting negative first and all of the other wires that go to the batteries, then charge it, then re-connect the terminals and head out. I always hated the chore of charging the battery. Now, all I do is run the electrical cord to the charger because everything is hooked up already. This thing makes it so easy I love it, then the little "gofish" indicator light makes it dummy proof. Well worth the money. For my dual batteries for the trolling motor I bought the BPS 2-bank charger - same concept and it works beautifully. What a great product! October 19, 2011

If you are getting blinking lights there are two things that could be going on.

1. There could be a problem with your charger.

2. There could be a problem with your batterie(s) (even if they are new).

The first thing to check is to see that the polarity (negative and positive) has not been reversed. If they are set up correct, then disconnect the leads from the batteries and with the end of the leads not touching anything turn the charger on. You should get a solid green light and the output of the charger should be 13.3 volts. If the light(s) still blinks then there is a problem with the charger. If you get a solid green light the next step is to isolate each of the batteries, by doubling up the leads on one of the batteries. Repeat this until you have isolated each of the batteries. If it blinks on all combinations of the batteries, then there is a problem with the charger. If it blinks on one of the batteries, then that battery is the problem.

Details: 
My pro 2bay 10amp inboard charger will show go fish light on, but when I un plug it then plug it back in know lights come on. No power light, no charge lite, no go fish light. Its been a coupld days now since it was plugged back in but still no go fish lite or charge, or power on light. Does this mean the batteries are dead?

A: 
Make sure you have adequate ventilation for cooling when charging. It can be mounted in any direction; it can even be mounted on the underside of a hatch, or any wall that you have enough room (as long as it is mounted as far as possible from the batteries or fuel tank). Don’t mount them on carpets---if you have no other location, mount it on either a board or with some kind of spacers to lift the charger off of the carpeted area. If the charger is mounted in an enclosed space it is best to open a hatch during the first stage of charging.

trying to wire to battery. unit has red and yellow wires, which wire goes to the positive and which one goes to the negative. i can not find owners manual

Or do you have to remove the jumper wire that is in the system? I have a 12/24 volt system and was wondering if you have to unhook the jumper wire first before plugging this system up?

Nope, keep everything hooked up just like you had before you bought the charger, with the BPS 2-bank charger, there will be 2 leads from the charger that go to each battery separately - then thats when the smart charger kicks in and manages each battery charge independent - it's dummy proof and awesome. I love not having to unhook anything to charge now.

yes you can charge them in series a 12v charger can be hooked up tp each on at the same time which is what the exp charger dos

This is only a 5 amp single bank charger. It will not charge 2 batteries fully. It is best to have a charger that has leads for each battery to be charged. The XPS 5/5 or Minn Kota 210 D would be the way to go.
