The Bass Pro Shops® XPS® Freestyle Jig was inspired by a Japanese jigging technique that uses 2 single-assist hooks, making it harder for a fish to throw the bait.

Bass Pro Shops XPS Freestyle Jig 4.6 5 28 28
Good Jigging Spoon Don't be put off by what seems like a weird hook arrangement -- I've caught quite a few striped bass, white bass, and hybrids on this lure. Be aware that when you order on line you sometimes get different hook sizes for the same size spoon. Suggestions: (1) Make hook size more consistent (2) Offer replacement hook rigs (3) Offer luminescent (glow) finish for deep water or night fishing. August 24, 2010
Excellent Jig I used this XPS Freestyle jig while my two friends were using the trebled Lazer type jig which in the past proved deadly. I believe I caught about 2-3 times as many fish with the Freestyle jig and found that the single hooks hardly ever got hung up on the lure body like the treble hooks did. My fishing buddies went out and stocked up on these after seeing how successful they were. Definitely add them to the tackle box. April 15, 2010
great this is great for butterfly jiging and is a killer bass bait when fished on a kvd baitcast rod and reel combo February 3, 2009
Good spoon I'm familiar with the butterfly jigging in saltwater and bought one of these to try. The quality looks good but had to see if the fish would eat it. I must say it works pretty good and I have caught a fair number of fish on it. I did notice I missed a number of fish, though would get hit a second time and could usually stick them. I went and upgraded the hooks to a larger size and have eliminated that problem. February 2, 2009

Do they work that well?

Details:
Are they effective when drifting over structure or through rips searching for fish, or are they only effective once gamefish have been found and attracted?

A:
It's one of the best deep vertical jigs I've ever used on white and hybrid striped bass in 15 to 35 feet of water. For clear water try natural colors or white. Works well for fish that are suspended or on the bottom. With a good depthfinder, you can watch it work in a school of fish.

I use a small duo-lock snap and attach at the end away from the hooks. It might be interesting to try it the other way!

I saw a Shimano rep fishing this lure on tv. He recommend you tie to the ring w/ the hooks. This keeps the fish from using the weight of the lure to throw the hook. I'm not sure why they have the rear ring, I guess to add a third hook if wanted. The show was salt water w/ much larger lures, but I'm sure it will work the same.
