It's one of the best deep vertical jigs I've ever used on white and hybrid striped bass in 15 to 35 feet of water. For clear water try natural colors or white. Works well for fish that are suspended or on the bottom. With a good depthfinder, you can watch it work in a school of fish.A:

I use a small duo-lock snap and attach at the end away from the hooks. It might be interesting to try it the other way!

I saw a Shimano rep fishing this lure on tv. He recommend you tie to the ring w/ the hooks. This keeps the fish from using the weight of the lure to throw the hook. I'm not sure why they have the rear ring, I guess to add a third hook if wanted. The show was salt water w/ much larger lures, but I'm sure it will work the same.
