Why call the Bass Pro Shops® XPS® Extreme® Travel Spinning Rods Extreme? The word “Extreme” is somewhat overused these days, so with these rods, we’ve tried to stay true to the official definition, which is (according to Webster’s Dictionary) “exceeding the ordinary, usual, or expected.” We have packed every possible ultra-high-end feature into the strongest, most profoundly sensitive package, and still kept your investment under $100!

Here’s what you get: We start out with an immensely powerful yet feather-light 60-million-modulus Powerwall™ IM9 graphite blank, then wrap the butt section with a new diamond weave carbon fiber to enhance lifting power. We top the blank with virtually frictionless, mirror-polished Fuji® aluminum oxide guides, and we finish the blank with the most durable clear-coat available. The grips are turned from ultra-premium-grade cork, with our exclusive PowerHump® handle to aid in balance and enhance fish-turning power. The full-contact, Soft Touch reel seat puts your fingers directly on the blank so you can feel even the softest bite. The result is a fishing rod that is farthest removed from the ordinary, that is anything but the usual suspect, and that far exceeds what you expect from a rod at this price point. By definition, these rods truly are extreme!

Includes a FREE nylon rod sock and crushproof rod tube with Cordura® cover—a $19.99 value. Tube measures 31".

PowerHump Handles:
Our specially contoured, premium cork handle design gives you enhanced leverage and an increased sense of confidence during the battle!

Fuji Aluminum Oxide Guides:
Polished to a mirror-like, friction-free finish. Extremely durable; precisely spaced for perfect line flow.

Full Contact Soft Touch Reel Seat:
Lightweight, rock-solid reel seat locks your reel in place, and the blank-thru construction puts your fingers in direct contact with the blank for the utmost vibration transmission.

Great travel rod I bought two of these rods, one MH and one M. I use both every time I go bass fishing with my kayak and I always keep one in the car just in case. They are great little rods, especially considering their price. I've had them for about five years and they look and feel as when they came out of the box. August 6, 2014
Good Buy I have both the Med & MedHvy rods & have purchased another for my girlfriend. We mostly Kayak fish so it's nice to have something that can be easily stowed. I have also tanken one on several travel fishing trips. They cast well… Not sure what's up with the reviews on here that states otherwise. And hey it's a 3 piece rod, it's not going to feel exactly like a one piece. I have a couple of older one piece rods that cast don't cast any farther than these do. Great price point. And now that I see they are on sale I may buy another or 2. May 12, 2014
Excellent for travel The packing tube fits in my duffle bag for air travel. In fact I can also include my fly fishing rod in the same tube. July 10, 2013
Worst Rod Ever 3 hours into my fisrt fishing trip with the rod and the top portion of the rod brooke in half while casting a worm. April 12, 2013

Not sure of the exact length.
As I don't have my rods with me at the moment.
But they are equal length sections or very close.

Yes Bill, I do not see why you can't use these rods for that purpose. They make two different kinds of travel spinning rods and one has a medium heavy action to it. I use the medium action mostly because I freshwater fish for bass and walleye, but I've purchased the med/hvy action rod for a trip off the coast of Japan and caught some nice size grouper in the 6 to 10 lb range and the rod performed well.
