Soft Swim Bait compatible - I have been using these weighted hooks sucessfullyy w the new Strike King "Shadalicious" swim bait. The 5.0 is perfect for the 4.5" version and stays rigged even in pretty heavy cover. The combination is ez to rig, casts beautifully and runs true. A killer bait! I wish the hooks were a bit sharper...they are not as good as my favorites... Gamakatsu EWG's... and require a little honing to meet that standard. A bit sharper to score a "5 Star" rating, but still a very good value. September 6, 2008
Good, But Not Great This is a decent weighted hook, but I purchased the 1/8 oz. 3/0 before the more recent smaller weights were available, like on the Mustad Ultra Points (their weight moves along the shank). These latter hooks have a smaller profile (especially for heavier weights) and make for a more streamlined presentation. I would not go back to the vertical drop hook. January 28, 2011
Well Designed After using these hooks I really like them. They are perfect for smaller swimbaits such as the Zoom swimmin super fluke, Yamamoto swimin senko, and the Big Bite Baits Cane Thumper. I've had great hookup percentage with them and they hold the bait perfectly without altering the action. February 22, 2013
Great Deeper Water I like these hooks. Alot of people use them for swimbaits, but I like them for worm fishing.They are great to send a worm straight down on a deep drop off or a deep water area that is holding fish. I like to drag it along the bottom slowly as well and usually get plenty of action. March 30, 2010

The sizing (going smallest to largest) goes in the pattern

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0

so 1/0 is the smallest of the /0's (called "aughts")

but 1 is the largest of the single digit numbers.

The single digits are always smaller than the /0 (aught) sizes

A '1' is always smaller than a '1/0', so '1' is smallest and goes up from there.

Personally, I would use a 3/0 or 4/0 on 5" to 7" plastic and a '1' or '2' on 4".

Best Texas rigged in our opinion. You need to select a soft bait that is wide enough to withstand the rigging process. It'll work just fine.

I have found that the Yum Ribbontail worms go well with this hook due to the size of them. I use a Texas rig and bounce them off the bottom. I have caught many 2-3 pound bass on them from the shore line.

I use the Zoom flukes. Poke the eye through the nose of the body. Measure the body length on the hook and rig the body straight as possible. The body should be a straight line when done.

I use these with a 10 inch worm and rig it the same way I do with any other hook.It looks as if it would tear the bait up but it does not and they hold quite well.

depending on what brand you prefer on swimbaits i assume your talking about. well i use a bit of either water or yum fish attractant in either shad or crayfish to went the bait and the hook to make it easier to slide through the nose of the bait rigging it weedless pulling it all the way up on the hook turning the hook around and pulling ti through the body of the bait and skin hooking it on the other side and you ready to roll
