Plastic block broke on first use! Very flimsy can not put any speed on motor because it twists.

Amazed this product is essentially unchanged and still on the market some 10 years after I bought one. Looks like it is still as cheaply made and ugly as it was then - and it is still the only thing out there for this application. If not for that it would rate one star.
I got it for a tiny Whaler Sport 13, that had a transom that didn't allow for clamp mounting a trolling motor. Bow mounting would have been equally challenging.
This thing worked, but only after I modified it, as one reviewer above did. Replaced the "wood" block with a block of finished teak 2x4 scrap I had. Mounted the Minnkota Transom Rubber pad on the Teak block. Moved the block, in it's steel channel, to center on the top of the square bar, adding another bolt. Added the extra screw, as other reviewers have, to stabilize the contraption on the mounting plate.
Have had to treat the metal parts carefully to combat corrosion, since I used it frequently in Florida saltwater, with a Minnkota Riptide. Only the stainless mounting plate has been trouble free - and it is nice that that's the only part of it left on the boat, when I go out without the trolling motor.
Definitely not the rock of Gibraltar, but the mount has held up OK with all the mods. I went looking this week to see if anything better has come along, and here I am again. Unless one is in the market for a more substantial, pricey and permanent mount on the transom, there's nothing else. Apparently BPS hasn't been motivated to improve this product - too bad - as other reviewers have noted, it would be so easy.

I debated over this product (4 way adjustable trolling motor mount) for a year and decided to order it. JUNK first time I used it the plastic bracket broke, it was so flimsy and cheaply made that I secured it to the boat. JUNK JUNK JUNK

I bought it and had to re-do most of the parts, this could really be a great item if it was made out of better quality materials. I spent about another $20 for parts and having a 2 x 4 channel welded on the brackey instead of the plastic block that was on it.. I am suprised that Bass Pro isn't reading all these reviews and fixing the problems with the supplier. I think for a little more money, they would have a great product.

Yes, This mount is designed to fit many applications includeing Pontoon, Bass, Jon, runabout, sail and others. The numbers on the photo 1,2,3 and 4 on the illustration indicate the four basic poitions the bracket can be installed in. The stainless steel mounts slide together allowing the motor to be easily removed. Thanks

Can I use this bracket for a mad river adventure series 14 ft canoeAnswers
A:Â
It should work fine for that applicationA:Â
The required space is 3.5'' x 4'' mounting footprint, so if you have that amount of space on your transom then you could use it.Details:Â
If I used the bracket only with the boat in the water (not on a trailer) and secured the bracket with a screw in the hole provided, would it work satisfactorily? My only purpose would be to approach quietly into redfish territory.Answers

I see no reason that it wouldn't... In fact, I have given consideration to almost the same thought-- Believing that the extra screw would both take any noisy slack out of the mount, but also make for a stronger mount as a whole. My thought is to use a thumb screw, so it is easy to part the mount as originally designed-- just one extra step.1 of 1
