Although I have only had the items less than a month, no problems have been experienced with them. The items replaced a corroded trolling motor plug and receptacle in a 25 year old tracker.

Need to upgrade from My 12 V trolling motor to 24 V..Is the 24 V system a 2 or 3 wire system?
meaning.. My 12 V has, 1 red, & 1 black wire ..is the 24 V- 1 Red & 1 Black also..
or does it have a 3rd wire,,White or Bare Ground.?
I know I'll need new plugs too, and wire..#8 but how many..2 or 3

Same as your twelve just two wires black ground. Red positive they way you hook up the batteries changes positive to negative between the two then your red wire of the positive of one and black off the negative of the other.Answers

Not positive of the question.This male and female plugs allow you to easily remove the Trolling motor from the boat.
This male and female plug come with either 10 or 8 ga. wire.
The 10 gauge wire is for 12 volt and the 8 is for 24 volt.
If trolling motor wiring is done correctly at the batteries, you should have a negative and either 12 volt or 24 volt positive.
Depending on what your motor needs.
These work great and come with connectors for the wires.

First determine what voltage your TM requires! If you are using a 12V T.M. (Trolling Motor) you will only have a red and black wire coming to the plug. Using two batteries for a 12 V T.M. will require that you run them in parallel..(-) to (-), black and (+) to (+), Red. Terminate each set of wires into the appropriate pair, and bring a single wire from each set to the plug terminal.Details:Â
My 20 amp fuse keeps blowing...Could it be that I have the 8 gauge and am not using 24 amps?Answers

The 8 ga. wire is noticeably larger than the 10 ga. Compare them side by side and you should see the difference. If the insulation (coating) on the wire makes them look too much alike, strip a bit of it off from each size and look at the copper conductor bare on each. The 8 ga will look noticeably larger.The 20 amp breaker is too small for your motor. I would suggest at least a 40 amp for this unit!

The larger the wire the less the resistance, and the lower the amperage. #8 is rated for 40 amps with 75C insulation. The fuse could be showing signs of a poor/loose connection or grounding out causing the current to increase. If the #8 wire is in good condition, and installed correctly it is not your problem. Varify what is the recommended fuse size for your trolling motor is if nothing else seems to be wrong. 20 amp seems to be a little small.Answers

Using the heavier gauge wire for any trolling motor is always a good practice. However, 10 ga. wire will carry the current load for this motor, but you will have less voltage drop with the 8 ga. which will give your motor a bit of higher voltage!Q:Â

Your plug for motorguide trolling motor is for #8 or 10 wire. motorguide requires #6. please explain.

#6 is a thicker wire compared to#8 or #10 and won't lose voltage over a long span compared to the thinner wire. I used #6 with my 24v minnkota and have no problems. You will need to use a different plug and receptacle also available from Bass Pro Shops.A:Â
As a electrican for over 20 years, I think I can help with this question. The # 8 wire is rated for 40 amps, and #10 is good for 30 amps. #6 is good for 60 amps. For long distances, Motorguide must recommend #6 to cover all voltage drops possibilites. Check the current draw / fuse size on your trolling motor to be sure, but # 10 is what I have on my 70 lb/ 24V trolling motor.1 of 1
