Nothing special here...
I guess what can we all expect for this amount of money??? I saw the reviews before I bought, my fault. First off, within the first 5 minutes the reel snarled internally because it was way overfilled with some really junky line! Taking the reel completely apart (on the water) removing about 60 yards of twisted up line in front of the spool, I used it the rest of the day. First thing when I got home, put some decent line on it...trying again next time. I hope that stuff in not a representative sample of all Bass Pro shop line.... would I recomend it to a friend.....maybe not...there is a lot better out there for not much more. I just needed to burn a Bass Pro shop gift card or I would not have bought this in the first place. Cheap combos are never going to be a good buy in the long run.

Dynamite comes in small packages.
I love this compact little combo to put in the bottom of my rod locker. While game fishing I'll run across a school of pan fish. What a blast to use.

This was my first experience with a Bass Pro product. The reel had a lot of grinding to it and sort of wobbled off of axis.
Eventually just threw it away.
I'd go for a different product.

I want to get my nephew a setup for Christmas and all the Shakespeare and Zebco setups for kids seemed very chinsy and looked like they won't hold up very long. This one caught my eye and seems like it would be small and light enough for a 4 year old to fish with. Also it looks like it will hold up better than the others.
it will hold up. the thing u wanna look for is a steel reel and a nice rod. which this combo has. if u ever take it in brackish water twist off the cap on the reel and rinse it off. this protects the reel from corrosion and make sure to oil/grease it often to ensure smooth casting.
