Bass Pro Shops® The Tornado® Spinnerbait
The blade and clapper of The Tornado emit vibration and sound never produced by any other lure on the market. Retrieve the lure at slow-to-moderate speeds, and it becomes a deadly spinnerbait with the rattling, tapping sounds of a crankbait. With a quick retrieve, The Tornado runs along the surface and becomes the deadliest buzzbait you've ever fished! It has been, and will continue to be, one of the most versatile baits ever. Made in USA.

If you fish topwater at all, Bass, Northern, Smallie....you MUST have this spinnerbait. I tie one in the spring after ice out and it only comes off to change colors!!! The BEST spinnerbait out there!!!
FYI...one thing you need to do is add a trailer hook, you hook-up rate will double as lots of time I had fish strike short on the single hook design. Running it across the top of the water takes practice...do not give up!! (a faster line retrieving ratio is very helpful.)

I have used Tornado Spinnerbaits for years and must say they are the best. If bass are biting they will eat this bait up.

You want a spinnerbait that will call the hawgs? Try the tornado series, I have used these since they came out with them. A definite winner!

There is NO better spinnerbait and NO better color! Period. If you don't have northerns and bass pounding this thing, they aren't in the lake!

I fish several ponds with muddy to clear water.Answers

I have all the colors and sizes of the Tornado, but no matter the conditions the Black and Blue is the only color that works for meA:Â
BlackA:Â
White is a great color for both muddy and clear water, as is black.A:Â

I have the most success with black on black.Details:Â
I bought this a few weeks ago and I'm having trouble retrieving it properly. If I try to burn it on the top of the water it is very inconsistent as far as if the blade spins or makes noise. If I slow/moderate roll it just beneath the surface or 2 feet under it runs just like a normal spinnerbait. My point of buying it was to get the noise of a buzzbait on the surface though and I can't seem to get it to run true on service. Any tips?Answers

Rod tip at about a 45 degree angle to the water, retrieve just fast enough to cause a wake or a bulge. Going too fast will break the surface and cause the blade to spin improperly. Keep at it until you find the "sweet spot" where it's under but not busting the surface.A:Â
Tie on the bait in a different location, follow tips on package and go with a 6-1 ration reel or 6-3A:Â
If the tip of your rod is vibrating, you can be sure you have it rigged correctly. I've not had any trouble and both Bass & Pike go crazy. I've not used it as a top water bait.A:Â
You can run this bait just under the surface and get a pretty good chatter out of it. I love this bait and have one tied on year round. I bring it back just under the surface where the blade starts making a nice wake and if you slowly bring your rod tip up it will raise the bait just a touch more and you should get a the chatter noise. Its not as loud as a buzz bait, but it definitley puts out a unique noise. Also ever now and then when i am bring it back, i will give it a jerk to give a little splash at the top. Great bait just give it a chance. I catch a lot of bass with it when i am on the lakes and a lot of pike when i am on the river. Its just a great all around bait.A:Â
Try holding your rod tip up. I found it easy to get it to act buzzbait while while doing this. There is a sweet spot tho. Experiment with retrieval speed and rod tip height. I hope this helps. It works for me.A:Â
Been using this for as long as I can remember. You have to practice some with it as it is very touchy when running topwater. DON'T give up!!! Use a reel with a higher line gear ratio and a braided line so it does not stretch helps too. Good Luck. (bending the lower arm so it runs up faster helps too.)A:Â
I had the same problem until I switched to a reel with a ratio higher than 6:1 and hold the rod tip at 1 o'clock position.Top 100 Contributor

While it is a unique spinbait with a lot of thump, I don't think it will win many awards as a buzzbait look-alike, or sound-alike.It is hard to get it to stay at the right depth for buzzin'. Best I have been able to do, is hold my rod tip at 11 o'clock until the lure surfaces and crank at a moderate speed. If you want real buzzin' live action, go back to the real thing.

Yeah......BPS probably shouldn't promote this as a buzzbait, tho it can be fished that way. It's pretty tough to get them chop across the top unless you're pulling it at mach 1. They're much better served as a spinnerbait, which they work awesome as.1 of 1
