Rated 5 out of 5 by Best bang for the buck After years of using many different brands of jig heads, I have not found any other brand at any price that performs any better than Bass Pro jig heads for fishing tube baits. they are a good value. April 25, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product with great price! I've used this product for years and it has served me well. I use it mostly for smallmouth bass on the New River in both Virginia and West Virginia. Very strong hook with semi-long shaft. Great for 4" tubes. Thanks Bass Pro for continuing to supply great products for the fishermen! March 30, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Slip 'N Head/Tender Tube Head I ordered both the Tender Tube head and the Slip 'N Head. I love them both, they are very versatile. The hooks are plenty sharp for me, and they fit well into almost all my tubes. What I really like about especially the Slip 'N Head is that it can be used as a tube head, or just a normal jig head for rigging grubs or other plastics. Good product, BPS. December 30, 2008
Rated 2 out of 5 by Could be better I have used the weedless heads for the first time and IT NEEDS IMPROVEMENTS...the hook stays fairly weedless .....The angle of the line tie on the hook needs moved from 90 degrees to 60 degrees to help keep weeds off of the line tie.... June 18, 2007

There's no easy answer; depends on the plastic and conditions. If it's a full bodied 5" shad-type swimbait, the 3/4 oz is likely a perfect match. If the 5" bait is slender or has a thin tail such as on a single tail grub, a 1/2 oz or even a 3/8 oz may work well. Also, water depth, current and desired rate-of-fall affect your choice of head weight. Without seeing the bait you're referring to, I'll say get the 3/4 oz and 1/2 oz, start with the examples I used above and change as needed.
Also, notice the people around you who're getting bit and mimic what they're using/doing. If using plastics with jig heads, see what size head and plastic they're tossing, if they're counting down after the lure hits the water and they're rate and style of retrieve. Nothing works like proven success; don't be shy about aping the guy who's catching the most fish.

I believe that they use Eagle Claw hooks on these jigs. The are not Gamakatsu. They do sell some jigs that have Gamakatsu hooks on them and they are more expensive, you get fewer jigs and only come in size 4 hooks. The Eagle Claws are sharp hooks and they are fine on these small jigs. I've had no problems with them.
