Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Little Rig Bought two of these for my nieces. They were ready to upgrade from worm and bobber fishing to fishing with lures. They cast fine and the reel is smooth. Good little combos. It had enough backbone for this nice trout. April 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good value The rod an reel combo a very good value for the price. My wife and I bought two and use them for crappie and bass. The anti reverse is a little weak, but the fighting drag on the bottom is a great feature. It makes a great starter combo for grand-children, so we bought two more. March 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by gave it a four star bought this the other day $25 is a great price for this.. use it for small mouth bass great rod this will be my go to rod for that, not that crazy about the trigger May 4, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Alright for the price, just not for me! (Action: Medium; 5'6'') I purchased this for my two young sons. I realized that the it was not the highest quality combo before I purchased it, but I didn't expect much for the price. I did not find the rod to be very sensitive. Thought it seemed cheap yet durable (what you would expect for the price and fine for kids). I was disappointed in the reel. After loading it with line I noticed the spool would turn backwards a considerable distance before the anti-reverse would engage (something I've noticed before with cheap reels). While this is annoying I still thought it was good enough for kids. After one or two trips I noticed the bail would not stay flipped over and that it would not flip over automatically when the reel was engaged. I'm guessing the mechanism that controls this function has broken. I could have dealt with the low sensitivity and the annoying gap before the antireverse but this was too much. I am returning it, but I will replace it with a different model of rod/reel as I do not want to take a chance of this low quality combo breaking again. If you like a quality rod and reel, spend a little bit more. If you just want the bare minimum, this will do. April 21, 2013

We use 6 weight on the ultralight combo. Seems to give us a good balance between feel, strength and invisibility. Brand is your preference.

I would put on about 8-10 pound line.

It works well. Just to tell you it gets tangled really easy.
