When fishing from a boat, cast into shore as close as you can, Start twitching the lizard along the bottom of the lake, river or stream, The slower the better, even let it sit still for a few minutes, Don't be afraid to cast around rocks and pond lillys, Hook it weedless REMEMBER.... Slower than Slow will catch you Fish

I participated last weekend in a fishing tournament in Mexico, and the only lure I used was the Bass Pro Shop "Squirmin Lizard" In Pumking seed chartreusse color, Texas rigged. On Saturday I got my quota by noon, and I replace several fishes after that and by the end of the day I finished in 12th place. On Sunday , fishing was slower. Any way, my only lure was the same. I finished 20th place, but the lure performed very well in different depths, I got fish at 4 feet, 10 feet, 15 feet and up to 20 feet. I got with the same lizard 3 fishes and it did not brake. Good thing I ordered several bags of it, so I will be able to catch a lot more fish

Only thought lizards worked in Spring when bass protect their spawning beds?? WRONG! Getting colder in these parts. Threw a 4" pumpkin seed Squirmin' Lizard into a mossy pond on a golf course and nailed 3 in an hour...one was a nice 3 pounder. Bass just attack lizards--they hate them instinctively-doesn't matter when in the year. Just downsize and slow down the presentation in cold weather. T-rig weedless with a bullet weight or an internal nail weight to help castng distance. You can fish the 6" lizard weightless no problem.

Just wondering what size hook you guys use. I have a 2/0 on some right now but was wondering if I should go with something bigger?

Use a 5 odd hook, it will bring the hook closer to the rear of the Lizard for a good hook set."Just to give you a little tip...When you feel a fish, don't always go for the hook set, let some line out and count to FIVE and then set the hook"

I used the 4/0 wide gap Gamakatsu and it worked great, it remain sharp for a long timeA:Â

Yes, go with something bigger than a 2/0. I learned the hard way.I was using a 1/0 hook with the 6 inch lizard because the swimming action looked much freer. If a larger hook was not centered just right under the belly, the lizard swam cock-eyed.
Anyway, I hooked into a pond beast at least 8 pounds....and she shook the hook the 3rd time she launched out of the water.
Bottom line...3/0 for 4 inch lizard; 5/0 for 6 inch model.

TRY THIS OUT. PUT IT ON A 1/16 OR 1/32 OZ JIGHEAD AND CAST BY DOCKS. ITS DEADLYA:Â

I like to use a 3/0 for the 4" size and a 5/0 for the 6" size both texas rigged. This seems to provide the best action and hook ups. Gamakatsu EWG is what I use, and the 5/0 is a superline hook but, a regular 5/0 EWG is just as effective.Images for this Answer
