Not sure about the extra long shank on these hooks. Don't really like the bend either. However, I do like the angled eye and the hook is very sharp. The jury is still out for me.

If fishing for smallies at deep clear reservoir the go to bait is 5" smoke grub on this type of jig head

First time trying these jigs and so far they have worked well. They work well on the larger twister tail grubs (like Zoom's Fat Albert) and have used them on 4" tubes with good results. For the price of the product, you can't go wrong.
