Took warning about wing nut damage seriously. Replaced it with hex nut, cut screw and wrapped with tape. Since I don't assemble/reassemble each time, this solved problem.

...like...i WAS exciting to have this part...
...so i busted it out of the package and put it together stuffed it in the ground...(DOWN by the black river round' back by 69/94)...
...like anyhow...i baited~up and put my rigg in the holder...twasnt' long until my dumbself noticed that this part has a BRUTAL flaw...the way it is put together a wingnut and post are in the area where a rod sits...hence...tears up a rigg...just..glad that i had noticed BEFORE i tore my rigg up and i took my riggs out...i am in the process of a bit of modificaton to make them acceptable...i have two of these that are no longer used until they have been modified to be cool...
...i WOULD NOT SCORE THIS PART...!!!
...it seriousally needs modification to make it so it will not tear up a rigg...unless you are one who enjoys tearing your things up and then bawling over it later...
...!! pay attention to the images...it is EXACTALLY how it looks when it is to be used...wingnut and post in the rigg zone..!!!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Bill8788 sturdy product
A good sturdy product! The ground spike is a little short but holds well. I wrap mine with 550 paracord for added grip on the rod handle. I take it on every catfishing trip. The securing nut is alittle high digging into the rods handle but nothing a dremel can't fix.

...DONT BUY THIS PART...POST AND WINGNUT WILL TEAR UP A RIGG...A:Â
Yes. I have used it with longer rods. You just have to be careful if you are using long, heavy-duty rods such as those you would fish the surf with. I wouldn't stick a big surf pole with a heavy duty reel into a light-weight aluminum holder. I feel comfortable when the reel is between the fork and the loop end of the holder. I sometimes use rods with a long butt that don't allow this. In that case, I make sure the holder is angled so that the rod is pointing well upward to avoid getting yanked out of the holder. If I'm "dead-sticking" a heavy rod, I make sure the drag is set lightly.Details:Â
