No frills, just a good stripper... This is a very nice line stripper, that makes very short work of removing line from your spools. The flashlight on the side of this stripper is very bright and will be useful as needed. Although the hook sharpening on the top of this stripper works okay, it doesn't beat a plain 'ol honing stone in my opinion. March 8, 2009
DOA Don't waste your money on this item. I'm returning the one I bought because it will not grasp/pull the 4# or 6# or 8# line. I needed it badly, but it is a piece of junk. I'd go with the larger, stronger and heavier Berkley model... if you can find it. Bass Pro doesn't offer it any more as a separate item. February 6, 2012
Bad product I have had a line stripper in the past. The one I purchased in the past came with a spooling kit that I purchased and worked very well. That is not the case with this one. It doesn't grab the line at all, so it soesn't pull it off the reel. I do not recomend it to anyone.......! April 12, 2011
Another need to have I do love gadgets and buy them all and am usually disappointed but this one is a need to have... it saves me cutting off the blood supply to my hand when winding line off a reel. I have rechargeable batteries because I change line quite often and this gadget is an absolute gem! April 1, 2008

A:
No it will not, if the line is looped down in the reel carriage. This tool is for getting old line off the reel quickly. I do not take all the old line off, I stop about 3/4 down the spool and using a special knot I tie the two lines together and respool.

A:
The only help this unit will offer for taking out a bird's nest will be to hold the reel in position as you hand strip the line. The battery operated stripper supplied most likely will not eat the bird's nest so you are left to strip it off by hand. If you stop when the nest is gone, the remaining line will be left on the reel.

Yes, just keep the bail closed and loosen the drag and it simply removes the line with no problems.
