Reel stripper rocks I used the Bass Pro reel Stripper to remove the old line off of several reels. The line just peeled off of the spools with a push of one button. I was amazed how fast the line came off. In no time at all, I had several spools emptied and ready to refill with new line. It's a whole lot better than stripping it off by hand. I should of had one of these years ago. I definately would recommend the Bass Pro Reel Stripper to my fellow fishermen. April 16, 2010
One fast stripper!!! I have put a few sets of batteries in this over the course of the last 2 years, as I change my line on multiple rods a lot, and it's still going. The hook sharpener is better than a rock, but not that great. As far as stripping line, this thing really shines. Getting a new one soon and a couple for friends who have seen it in actio0n and used mine also., AND for $12, you can't go wrong. January 25, 2013
Fast and works Great! Does exactly what it claims. Strips line from a reel Fast. Definitely beats the long and tedious job of wrapping line around your hand. The hook sharpener works OK. Have no idea why there is a light on this. When I first installed batteries and pushed the button nothing happened. Thought I got a defective stripper. Gave the hook sharpener a twist and then it worked great. July 24, 2009
Performs as advertised This is a perfect tool for quickly stripping line off your reels. It certinaly beats doing it manually. It is nice and small to store in box or tackle bag. The price is right, too. Get this if you don't have one already. As for the hook sharpener, it is just ok. The right hand file is the only way to sharpen hooks best. I strictly use this item for line stripping. November 9, 2006

A:
No it will not, if the line is looped down in the reel carriage. This tool is for getting old line off the reel quickly. I do not take all the old line off, I stop about 3/4 down the spool and using a special knot I tie the two lines together and respool.

The only help this unit will offer for taking out a bird's nest will be to hold the reel in position as you hand strip the line. The battery operated stripper supplied most likely will not eat the bird's nest so you are left to strip it off by hand. If you stop when the nest is gone, the remaining line will be left on the reel.

Yes, just keep the bail closed and loosen the drag and it simply removes the line with no problems.
