Not only is the tie down flimsy, but the absence of a cushion behind the ratchet ensure scrapes and scratches for your gell coat. Looks somewhere else for a strudy protective tie down.

Needed tie-downs for my boat and they were just what I needed. Put them on and the boat didn't move for the entire journey

I replaced the non-ratcheting strap tie-downs that came with my boat with these, and I am very pleased with them. My boat tends to seat a bit differently on the trailer when recovering, depending on the depth and steepness of the lauch ramp. Adjusting the old straps took too much time, and these ratcheting straps is much easier and faster. One note of caution - the metal buckle on the boat end may tend to rub against, and maybe scratch, the hull. If your hull extends much beyond the end of the trailer, this may be a problem. A rubber or foam pad between the buckle and hull might solve this problem.

The range from my boat to my trailer is fairly short. I have purchased two other tie down sets to replace the wearing ones I have. I could not make either of the ones I purchased short enough to hold tight. ThanksAnswers

If the strap is long pull the end through the rachet slot and wind up. Its ok if the strap double up on the wind as long as the strap is not supper long.Answers
