Rated 5 out of 5Â by Bosshog3 Really nice motor
I got the saltwater Prowler 55 because i just may use it in the ocean. For an extra $29 i figured it was worth it. I've used it several times and it works really well on my 17' Old Town Tripper canoe. I'm usually loaded down with a cooler, lots of tackle, the full size battery not to mention my wife. This motor moves us along really well, and no more paddling! Terrible terrible owners manual, and not sure what the digital readout does nor have i figured out what the LED's underneath do??

I got this for my 16 ft inflatable and it works great. Easy to control with adjustable tension on the steering. I have used it in both saltwater and fresh and am very satisfied with it. I think it's a great value for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by FloridaGeorge Just what I needed
The Prowler is very easy to install as a bow mount. The head turns around easily and the unit fits perfectly on my skiff. The thrust moves my 16footer with ease in Gulf Coast current and breeze. Economical to buy and operate.

Purchased this one day after christmas for my 12 ' V-nose john boat. Product is fantastic and well built. Right now it is the only motor I have on the boat and with my 47 lb son, my 160 lbs and another 40 pounds in gear this motor moves the boat at a great clip. Been out for 4 hours at the longest trip with the motor running 90% of the time at setting 3 or higher and at the end of the day the digital readout showed at a 5 for battery power.... not bad considering it starts at an 8.

The Freshwater version has this option. Therefore, the saltwater will/should also. You might call or email customer service for the instructions.Q:Â

What is the difference between a freshwater and saltwater version (other than being white in color)
Answers
A:Â
The saltwater is made with a composite shaft to prevent rusting and the freshwater version is made of aluminum.A:Â
the salt water version has specially coated parts, sealed electronics and a sacrificial anode behind the prop.A:Â
Salt water has a composite shaft, which will not rust. Freshwater is aluminum. My opinion is that the aluminum could dent if struck, not the composite.Answers
