Rated 3 out of 5 by pianoman8 Its an OK trolling motor
Hi.
OK this Prowler T30/30 is a good motor if you have a small boat which I do. I do not like the tightening screw being located on the bottom of the mount. It should be on the top of it. It has this depth adjuster mounted above the mount. That helps a bit. its an OK motor.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 6. Thats it. You need to grease the shaft.

Rated 1 out of 5 Not such a good deal!
I have gone through four of these motors in under two years! They break easily and yes, I have had two of them catch on fire. I would get a better on even if it coasts more!!

i am saving up for a 10' pond prowler and a troling motor, this one seemed okay #and cheap# so i am just wondering if you need a mountAnswers

A:
This motor would be absolutely perfect for a pond prowler, and you won't need to buy a mount.A:
You should not have to purchase any other type of mount to put on a pond prowler.Assembly: Attach the motor to the stern of the boat. Make sure you tighten both mounting bolts securely. (Fig. A)
To adjust the angle of the motor following attachment, hold the motor head with one hand and depress the positioning pin with your other hand. Press and hold the pin until the desired angle has been reached. Release the pin and verify that the mechanism engages securely. (Fig. B)

Anyone ever mounted this motor on a sit on top kayak?Answers
A:
The design of the mount would work on the Kayak but the shaft length may be too long for a kayak. In addition, you might try the MotorGuide® VariMAX® Saltwater Edition Hand-Control Kayak Mount Trolling Motor item number 1751736, which has an 18” shaft length. Thanks!Answers

Any 12 volt deep cycle should be fine for use. I would recommend getting the biggest battery that is feasible for your watercraft as it will give you a longer run time.Answers
A:
on mine I always use a good marine battery of 550 amps or more. This unit doesn't require a big battery unless you need a lot of contineous hours of use. Marine batteries are made to accept "re charges" at mutliple times and not hurt the battery. I like the Exide, they have an excellent internet site to help you choose a good battery. Don't forget a good low amp charger for your marine battery, a good charger will extend your battery life.A:
The motor runs with all stand 12V batteries. We recommend using a deep cycle marine battery for optimum performance. Marine Batteries: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Sho.... ThanksAnswers

I have a Mad Riiver 14.5 canoeAnswers
A:
It might be able to if you have a motor mount to place in the center of the canoe and can be adjusted to the width of your canoe. If not, I would suggest adding ballast to the front of your canoe. To do so, simply take some dry bags (such as the Ascend version), fill them and seal them, and then place them at the very front. This will help the canoe to ride more on plane and will make it not as tippy.
