Bass Pro Shops has teamed one of its legendary reels with one of its revolutionary rods to offer the tournament-caliber Bass Pro Shops® Pro Qualifier® Reel/CarbonLite™ Trigger Rod Baitcast Combo.

Our Pro Qualifier Baitcast Reel is built to fit the way tournament anglers fish. Whether you're fishing a weekend buddy bash or the Bassmaster Classic®, this reel will put you at the top of your game. From its one-piece machined-aluminum frame and double-anodized, machined-aluminum drilled spool, to its Recurve handle and drag star, the design is sleek, light, and functional. And every feature is geared for performance, including the quality 7-bearing system with Powerlock instant anti-reverse; our Dual Braking System with click-adjustable magnetic and 6-pin centrifugal cast control systems working in concert; and a hard titanium-coated line guide. Other features include a pin-release side plate, for quick brake adjustments on the fly, a soft touch thumb bar, and a built-in lube port.

Our CarbonLite Trigger Rod is a thing of beauty, built on an ultra-rich carbon-fiber blank that compares favorably to 85-million modulus (IM9) graphite. Sleek, smooth carbon fiber transmits vibrations instantly and weighs much less than standard materials—yet has hook-set power to spare. The guides are special: feather-light, stealth-black, Pacific Bay DLC stainless steel frames with titanium-carbide inserts and a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating to make them extra-slick and damage-resistant. Split handles with P-Tec poly-foam grips (and virtually no foregrip) keep weight low and blank contact high; our two-piece Soft Touch reel seat is light, comfortable, and bridgeless, exposing significantly more blank area to direct hand contact. All in all, you'll love the feel and handling of this revolutionary rod.

Reel features:

  • One-piece machined-aluminum frame
  • Double-anodized, machined-aluminum drilled spool
  • 7-bearing system with Powerlock™ instant anti-reverse
  • Dual Braking System™
  • Pin-release side plate for quick brake adjustments
  • Built-in lube port

Rod features:

  • Ultra-rich carbon-fiber blank
  • Pac Bay® guides with stainless steel frames and titanium-carbide inserts
  • Split handle with P-Tec poly-foam grips
  • 2-Piece Soft Touch reel seat

Great combo! I've been fishing my whole life but have always used spinning and spincast gear. I recently came across my dads old shimano bantam baitcaster on a 5'6 pistol grip and fell in love with it. So I went to the Ft. Myers store lookin to buy my first baitcaster as an addition to my arsenal of spinning reels and ended up with the 7ft med/hvy with the 6.4 reel. The guys at the store were great and even spooled it with mono for free! It serves me as a bit of an all around rod and has done great with everything I've thrown on it from frogs to spinnerbaits, crankbaits and Texas rigs. Fantastic combo at a great price. BPS has done it again! By the way the pictures online show a black rod but the newer carbonlite model is white and looks darn good if you ask me. January 14, 2015
Highly Recommend I bought this to get into baitcasting. I'm a life-long fisherman of spinning reels and ultra-lites, but learning on this reel was a good experience. I got a few birdsnests, but within 20 casts or so, I had caught on and was catching fish. I purchased the 6.4:1 reel right hand retrieve and the 6' 9" Medium rod with standard guides. On my first day out I caught a few 4 pounders and even two 5 pounders at a small public lake that I didn't even know had fish in it. But despite the pleasant surprise the rod and reel worked great, I had no problems at all bringing in the fish, and in fact, I find it easier than spinning gear as long as you are on a boat or have open water to make learning easier. I strongly recommend this very light weight setup and am personally looking forward to catching many more fish with it over many more years. August 18, 2014
great combo So I picked this combo up on black friday for 70$, thats a steal. The reel is super smooth and easily adjustable. with a dial to adjust the magnetic brakes and a pin helps to easily pull the cover off to adjust the c brakes. I love the reel and like the the rod, I picked the 7ft m/h rod, it's sentive and has the power for setting the hook. However while I dont mind the foam handles I still prefer cork, and the handle seems a liitle on the fatter side. after a few hrs of fishing I feel my hand getting fatigued. My friend got the 7ft m rod and it is much lighter and the handle is allot skinnier. I recomend the m rod. but overall this is a great combo. December 4, 2012
What A Combo This bait-caster combo is amazing for the money. In fact, I prefer this rod over an Abu Garcia Vendetta/Revo S combo. The reel has an extremely smooth action and the breaking mechanisms perform very well. The rod is also great and you can feel and identify everything on the other end of your line. I will definitely be purchasing another one of these combos when the time comes. The only knock against this rod I have is that the lure holder is in a position where when your line slacks up even a little bit, it runs underneath the lure holder and it happens quite frequently. To me, this is not a deal breaker because you can easily just snip it off the rod if it is that much of a problem. October 15, 2013

In the description, it says that the reel is either right or left handed. Is this referring to the hand that is on the reel handle or the rod?
*I prefer to hold the rod with my left hand while reeling with my right.

BuckshotOutdoors,

That is considered a right-handed model in baitcasting reels. Hope this helps!

This is referring to the handle on the reel that you crank. If you use your right hand to crank the reel then you would need to order right hand.

I was looking for a new Rod/Reel Combo for Spinnerbaits & swim jigs. But had trouble figuring out if I should get 6'6" for better accuracy casting into tight spots or the 7 footer for longer casts parallel to the bank and open water situations. Note I am 5'6" and I have a 7 foot rod I am comfortable handling. Thanks.

Kchung,

You basically answered your own question as you are correct with your evaluation! You simply need to decide which is more important to you in terms of accuracy or distance. In addition, please consider that you can be very accurate with a longer rod if you are flipping or pitching. Also, consider that the 7' rod also does move more line on the hookset. Hope this helps!

I am 5'11'' and have the 7 foot rod and can use it for any purpose really. I fish off of a Bass Tracker Pro team 175 TXW. I have a 6'6'' Abu Garcia which I use for tighter spots, but do not get the same distance as the Bass Pro combo.

Not a casting rod, dipping into tight spots that's you can't throw a casting bait.

ctf58,

7'6" MH would be a great power for cranking, but the fast tip action would not be the most suitable. Look for something with a "moderate" or "medium fast" action.
The 7'6" MH with a fast tip would be great for flipping medium cover or throwing a light to medium weight A-rig. Hope this helps!

I don't ever go over 7ft or under 6ft6, but for only crankbaits or a rigs, it might work. but I do not recommend getting that slow of a gear ratio. 6:4:1 should get the work done. you can always just reel slower.

You would be fine with just the 7' rig and could use it for both deep cranking and almost anything else you wanted to do.

The ratio is great for those big mean bugga's that like to take your line out quick, but with the 5.2:1 ratio, you will have no problem at all,the 4.7:1 is great too,but it won't allow you to reel in the line faster for different fishing style, such as when using spinners and top or deep diving lures. So being as a 5.2:1,it is great for the deep cranking setup. On the rod setup,It's little on the stiff side, but if you can control your casting mark lay out ,you should have no problem using it for flipping or to use other fishing styles of usage on this rod.
