Man where do I start on this one, just got my full pro qualifier hookup (jacket/bib) on Tuesday two days ahead of expected delivery date. Hung my new rain gear in the closet and was figuring I would not get to test it our for a few months weather here should be getting warmer it's April 5th. Well today (Thursday) I got off work after half a day unexpectedly and then as luck would have it I got a call to hit up the California delta to Bass fish with a friend.
Only been on the Delta a few times and I was not about to miss this opportunity to go out in early April. Grabbed my new Pro Qualifier jacket thinking I probably wouldn't need it but what the heck. Man was I glad I did. We got on the water with a light breeze but ended up having to take cover from an approaching rain storm , which was not forecasted by our local weather folks.
Man am I glad I brought this jacket from the second I put it on at the dock I noticed a major different from my other so called rain gear. No wind, no cold, no water on me at all for 7 hours. In fact at one point I did get cold and thought thats odd there must be a timer in this jacket that stops all of the protection because I was getting cold suddenly. After a few minutes I realized when i adjusted my life vest I unzipped my jacket. I know stupid me. once re-zipped up again I was good to go again.
I hesitated for over a year because of price and what appeared to be filmsy light weight material at first. I didn't know much about Gortex initially but have since learned more. take my advice, if can you swing the funds get a pro qualifier jacket and bib set. After one day on the California Delta in 15 to 20 MPH winds and rain I am glad I did and you will be too.
I am looking forward to more rainy days on the Delta now that I know my pro qualifier rain gear can keep me warm and dry.

Good rough weather boating jacket. Could be improved by perhaps having the nylon cuffs as an option - they are a bit confining when putting on or taking off the jacket. Liner would probably be a wise idea as just the shell is a bit cold on a cold blustery day.

The pro qualifier jacket is a very nice, high quality jacket. It is wind and water proof as described and true to fit with room to wear a sweatshirt underneath. I have been wearing mine in temps from below zero to the mid twenties over a hoodie with no liner in the jacket and it is plenty warm.
The style and color is also impressive. There are pockets all over the place and the permanently attached hood covers your neck and face very well but is not restricting or uncomfortable.
The only negative I can come up with is that the liner is $119 extra. I own similar hunting jackets that are gortex of the same quality and the liners were included with the original purchase which was actually less expensive than this jacket.

I decided to purchase the BPS Pro-Qualifier jacket/bib after reading/researching multiple reviews on many makes of rain rain and I am very happy with my decision.
The first time I had a chance to wear this rain gear was in an early June walleye tournament, it poured on/off on the first day, but on the second day it poured all day with the wind blowing at 40 km's with gusts up to 60 km's. For the first time ever, I came off the water each day completely dry, not even wet from sweating in the rain gear. BIG plus in my book!
I have worn this rain gear multiple times throughout the summer and up until the ice froze over the lakes, not once have I had any quality control or leakage issues.
The best feature of the jacket is the neoprene cuffs, I have not had any water dripping down through the cuffs and having soaked forearms from jigging or throwing cranks. I also love the protection the hood offers from the wind/rain.
Now that the 2013 open water has been gone for two months in Northern Ontario, I can honestly say that this rain gear met/exceeded my expectations.
I did order it in a larger size to wear extra layers in the spring/fall, but with the adjustments I make work for the summer as well.
Definitely worth the investment to stay warm and dry!
