Rated 3 out of 5 by 67 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by functional The A style holder is functional and for the price a good buy. I haven't tried the other styles but they look kinda weak. August 5, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by You get what you pay for I did not buy it for fishing I would not have bought a six dollar poll holder for that. I have a fishing poll I wanted to display and it does not work. the clamp was not squarer and there is not enough adjustment for rod tip height. October 23, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible The price of this item reflects what to expect, but it can't even be trusted to hold your pole or stay attached to the boat. I know this item is very inexpensive, but again it should at least work. I be leave myself and all other customers would be better off never seeing this item. Sorry but this was a complete wast of money that I could have spent on something useful. July 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth The Money I am very satisfied with this product. Installation went easy. June 29, 2013

A:
I have a buddy that takes me fishing several times a month. I purchased these rod holders and gave some to him to mount on his pontoon boat. He changed the mount that the rod holder comes with to one that is designed for square tubing and they work great.

A:
My son owns a Jon boat, and I purchased 6 of these for him. He took the mount off that comes with the holder and uses a strong clamp he purchased from the hardware store he mounted to the rod holder. He hooked a 6 lb. bass while the rod was in one of these holders clamped to the side of his boat. The rod holder did not budge a bit. The secret to this is the clamp has to have a strong spring and be extremely hard to open.

It clamps better in the back but not on the side where the surface isn't flat.
Even in the back it wasn't sturdy enough.

If you plan on using this for trolling, I would look for a t-lock instead.

A:
Probably - not sure - I believe it is the power of the motor that loosens up the screwing on mechanisms - I am going to mount the next ones to the side of the boat as we like to troll for Lakers and Salmon and these just come loose to fast.

They will work on a jon boat , and you don't have to drill holes. And you can move them around your boat with easily until you find "just the spot" they seem to work the best.
Hope this helps ya out.
