Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 low quality used reel on only 1 outing casting shadraps , double 8's and topwater lures after about 5 hours spool bearings became very loud and rough May 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Expert Fishing This is a great real for any large game fish not just muskie. I use this all the time for catfish and carp plus Bass because of the great accuracy. June 20, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome I like this reel. It casts great, and I don't think it's that heavy. I cast it all day without problems. I got the lower geared one to reel in those big wobbly lures, and/or just reel a regular crankbait slowly. I would buy this again. June 7, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Muskie Angler Reels Smooth casting reel with plently of guts for fishting big fish. I bought the 4.2:1 ratio version last year and though I had never used a baitcast reel before, never suffered a birdnest at all. Followed the instructions on setting the VBS and away I went! Bought a second one (5.2:1) for this season! great bang for your buck! April 11, 2011

You can always avoid backlashes if you use your thumb correctly. You are supposed to let the reel freespool witht he lure you'll be casting and turn up the brake until it slowly falls. I used 60lb braid and 20lb fluoro on that reel when I owned it. It was a smooth caster. Got Shimano 400TE now.

if your good using a baitcaster, you will have no problem casting, you do need to adjust the spool speed for heavy tackle, but i have used this reel for hours and hours and have not had a mess yet, but did learn quick that the lighter weight of this seems to like lighter gear.......

these reels have the dual brake system...has 4 pin internal CBS and a 10 settting magnetic external setting

Depends on what you are doing with it. I have two of these reels for Muskie and one has 50 pound powerpro braid. The other is on a larger setup for Muskie and Sturgeon and that has 80 pound braid. The reel has enough capasity to load more than you'll ever need.

I mistakenly picked up a right-hand reel baitcaster last year and...well...I am not ambidextrous, and can't cast the darn thing without getting a nest. I need a left-handed reel.
Thanks in advance for not making too much fun!!

FYI- If you are having problems with a reel you might send or take the reel back to a Bass Pro Store for repairs or adjustments.

If the Thumb bar does not return after casts.Clutch spring is broken. Replace clutch spring. When removing sideplate on round reel make sure the thumb bar is in the up position before assembling.
