Rated 5 out of 5 by Mushroom Anchor I have yet to use it but it's the weight i ordered and seem's like it should sink and keep me in place. September 14, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by holds pretty well i bought the 8# anchor for my 12' jon boat and it was just what i needed. holds me steady on the fishing spot and comes up easy enough. i also like the rubber coating. June 15, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Anchor This anchor's construction prevents getting hung up on submerged branches and rocks. Other anchors, expecially ones with the splits are good, but you always have the chance you are going to have to cut your rope and lose your anchor. If you want to play it safe, this product is the one you want. May 16, 2010
Rated 3 out of 5 by not for me This is by far better than a brick with a rope tied to it but i would not recomend it to anyone. It does hold you in place on calm water but when its windy it will get dragged quite a bit. Thats not my main issue, what i strongly dislike about this anchor is that it damages plant life and harms the lake bottom. March 30, 2010

Good for canoe?

Details:
My hubby and I fish from a 15' canoe in a man-made lake. It does have trees and such that have fallen into the lake
(make great crappie beds!) I need to know if this will hold our canoe steady and what weight we should use?

Below is a link to Bass Pro Shop's anchor buying guide. I've found that a 10 pound River anchor is great for nearly any situation. Plus, it's versatile enough for a rocky/muddy lake/river.
