Rated 4 out of 5 by Impressive for the price Bought this as an extra to keep in the truck. wound up using it along with my Shimanos! Handle already bent a bit-hence the 4 stars. Extra spool sweetens the deal. July 14, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good purchase It cast smooth. I really like it. I use it a lot. It take it every where I fish June 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Casts like a dream I bought this reel awhile back for walleye. Let me say it is one of the best spinning reels I've got. My dad has an older shimano 4000 he said it cast further than his did brand new. And it is a smooth reel. I will buy more of these reels in the future. And at 21.99 it's a steal. June 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very decent reel Bought the RA30 2 years ago and still working fine. Fought with different fishes (bass, pikes, carps and jumbo perches) and using different lines (8-12 and now 15 Pline floroclear). U all know the game: sometime I won, other I lost. But I will definitely buy another one (maybe bigger capacity) and recommend this reel to everyone. April 19, 2014

A:
not much difference, its just where you prefer the button. I learned with the front drag, so that's just what I use.

A:
In front drag, the drag adjustment is located on the top of the spool. This is usually a better performing system because of the larger surface area of drag washers. In rear drag, the drag adjustment is on the back of reel. Rear drag typically allows for a quicker change of spool than a front drag configuration.

A:
Front drag reels are lighter and less bulky than the rear drag reels. I found the rear drag reels more convenient when fishing in unknown spots where I set the drag quite loose and tighten when Ii understand what kind of fish I hooked

front drags tend to be smoother and don't get easily gunked up with dirt, sand and stuff when you're bank fishing

Nothing. It only means where you adjust the drag from on the reel.

This reel is great for walleye. Has a nice rear drag system to fight the biggest of walleye. And for 21.99 it's a steal. Buy it and try it out. If you don't like it, it's not a big loss.

Yes, I use them for topwater bass fishing all spring, summer & fall. Im not a walleye fisherman, but I see no reason why these reels wouldn't be great for that too.

I have the RA30 with lines from 8 to 15 lb test and caught several basses from 3 to 5 lb easily. I guess that with the right line (maybe a braid) and the right rod ( I have a 7 feet BPS Graphite Series ) should be ok even for walleyes

A:
I don't use replacement spools. I replace my line so often when fishing spring steelhead, that I just use the same spool. The steelhead & creeks & riversher in Michigan are hard on line, so I replace it often. I would assume that Bass Pro has replacement spools for sale.
