I would much rather use my Bass Pro MegaCast reel over my ABU Garcia 3500. The bait clicker is just as noisy and it is just a smooth. A much better value in price as well. I would recommend this product to anyone who doesnt want to buy an ABU reel.

Ive owned peen reels abu garcia. This one is great its smooth,and the cast,tell the guys on the other side of the lake to watch out.

I bought 2 of the mega cast reels, one for myself and one for my youngest son, annd im sorry to say that I've had nothig but problems with the one I use, and my son has not been satisfied with the one he uses. Iguess you get what you pay for! I wouldnt recomend this reel to my friends!

I took this reel to Idaho and Montana to catch some salmon and pike. This reel held up so good against these hard fighting fish. It casted extremely far and pulled in many fish with ease.

I recieved this reel a couple days a go, I'm liking it so far.Its the first time I use a reel with a bait clicker, I have some questions about how this works.
Do I turn the bait clicker on, and push in the cast button so it can take it and run, then reel and set the hook?
Can I reel the fish all the way in with the bait clicker on or is this bad for the gear?

I don't know about muskie but I catch 45+ inch spot tailed bass without a problem. I think that I finally wore my drag out over the years but for the money who cares. I frequently use a 3 to 4 ounce weight to get the bait down during tidal movement.A:

The reel is open enough to make this rather easy, but be advised that one should be wary of extended use of this technique as it may leave you with a nasty friction burn on your thumb depending on line type. This I would not say is a good starter if your just starting out with fishing altogether but it is a start if you are not new to fishing altogether if you have some experience with and opened faced reel and a closed faced reel as this type of reel incorporates both of those types of reels. :)I hope this is helpful to you

This reel is my light musky reel. It works well for the tigers under 40" that I primarily fish for.A:
I would say no unless the fish are minnows size. I just have used three of them fishing for catfish. The biggest fish of the day was a 5lbs. fish and the reel would slip. I had to use my thumb to control the spool. I could not get the drag set tight enough to stop line being pulled of the reel. I would do what I plan on doing and spend the extra money for a better grade reel.A:

the only brake is the spool adjustment knob but this reel is virtually impossible to back lash! i use it for cat fish/stripers...it throws heavy baits far and smooth! the eye even moves when casting for less line overlay! i would definitely recommend it for the money. hope this helped!A:
It has a centrifugal brake. I do not cast with this reel since I am using lead core line to troll deep, so I can't tell you much about how well the braking works.A:

I would use braided. I put 50lb Power Pro moss green when I had this reel and it worked fine. I wouldn't put 30lb mono, this reel is pretty small.

50 lb braid would work good . I have 80 lb on mine ! The reason is one I have a big spool of it . Two the line dose't bite in to the spool when you get a canary ! I put 30 lb braid on a reel a few years ago. It bit in to the spool so bad that at the end of the day I had cut most of the line out of the reel !A:
