Our adult male Doberman had swimming experience but was never very confident in it. Our young female had never been in water deep enough to swim. We wanted to get them some float coats but didn't want to spend a bunch of money in case they didn't like them. These were the perfect solution. They didn't have a single problem with us putting them on them (but we do put coats on them in the snow). Our male was swimming like a champ and our female went right into the water and swam with confidence. The size appropriate for our female's length kept her a little too buoyant because of her weight. If she can put on a few more pounds it will be as perfect for her as it is for our male. We also learned that if we cinch down the rear strap (not too tight of course) it kept their rear ends up and helped them swim smoother.

This is the second one I have bought because we got our second dog. Love the product and the dogs seem to enjoy the water even more since they don't have to struggle so much to stay above water. I would recommend this to anyone who has dogs that they will be taking out on the water with them. We went out on Memorial Day and both dogs used their life vests. The ring that you can use to hook up a leash is very useful so the dogs can't swim too far away.

We have a boxer that loves the water but sinks like a rock. We had previously purchased a different vest but it was not very long on her and although it kept her front half up, the long legs and butt sunk like she had a brick tied to her tail. This one covers her neck to tail and after a while she didn't even flounder but actually swam!!! WOOHOO. She will now venture out into the water and swim all by herself. It's a great color too as other boaters will see her.

If she is full grown go with the medium. If she is still growing go with the large. Our 60 lbs Doberman puppy was almost too buoyant in the large but once she puts on weight it should work perfectly for her.Images for this Answer
