Giant Snakeheads I use these in Bangkok, Thailand to catch Giant Snakeheads. They work better than anyother bait BUT the snakeheads have big teeth and sometimes I catch 1 and sometimes 3 on a bait, but no more before they are destroyed. But there is no rubber bait that last any longer and these catch the most. Oh, they are great on barramundi also. September 2, 2011
Amazed how well it worked This is the first jointed swimbait I have purchased, the price was great at BPS, which is ultimately what convinced me to give it a try. I took this to a little pond by my house which has some bigger but picky bass. First cast, two fish followed it to the bank, 1 hit, 5 lbs. Nothing after that. Came back 4 hours later, few more casts, 4.5 lb fish. I am guessing these will work well anywhere there is a decent amount of baitfish that bass are feeding on. The hooks are very solid, better than you would expect for a lure under 5 bucks. If you are looking to try out a jointed swimbait on the cheap, I would highly recommend this. November 7, 2010
Realistic I have used these for a couple of years now and fish mostly in a river that is loaded with shad. On occasion I fish with live shad, so I am very familiar with the look and motion of the real thing. This is the most realistc bait I have ever seen and used. It has proven to be extremely effective. I have caught a lot of fish and when they don't strike, they follow it to the canoe. Don't expect these things to last forever. They are plastic and will occasionally tear apart. No biggie. They are only $3 and some change. Compare that to the other hobbies like a $60 round of golf and this is a steal. May 23, 2012
Love it! It took me years but I finally got a 10lber...thank you swimbait!! So far I have caught a 6.10, a 7, and a 10lb 11oz largemouth off my swimbait!! Still can't believe how good these work! Don't give up on it and I hope you find success!! I am ordering more, stupid mudfish tore it up today. :( April 12, 2013

I tied directly and the action was awesome, caught a beautiful 24 inch Rainbow Trout. I'll try it with a snap next time and see how the results compare. If they are similar I will stick with snaps for the option of quick lure changes.

A:
Snaps allow for a natural swimming motion and provide the ability to change lures quickly. However, you could tie directly to the main line. I would suggest trying both ways to see which action in the water or the fish like best. Thank you!

Definitely use a small snap like the smallest you can buy which i believe is the Bass Pro 13mm snap. It adds so much more action to any lure especially on a swim bait that doesn't have a split ring.

I have caught Largemouth Bass reeling both fast and slow. When I do reel it slow, I give it an occasional twitch and that extra action seems to really make the bass hit when they aren't being very aggressive.

Not sure on hook size, but you sure are putting together an expensive lure, be careful about structure , they are easy to snag

For the price of these you could just replace the hooks with whatever size you need The lure I purchased did not have a good hook on it anyway. I know BPS advertises that the hooks are premium but the lure I got did not have a quality hook on it. I just replaced it. The lure itself is good quality

I'd remove the bottom treble and simply run the top hook of the bait on an Alabama rig. Look into the cream sunfish swimbait for a cheaper ( and smaller 2'' profile) alternative to this lure for Alabama rig use. Have fun with that rig!

Will sink when not being retrieved, the great swim action that they have during the retrieve looks to me like an injured fish when you pause your retrieve and let the lure go head down a few feet.

Different lengths....I think the 4 and 5 inch lures look much more realistic than the 3 inch. I may keep a couple of 3's but will definitely use mostly 4 and5.

I might not be dead-on, but the 4" should be around 3/8 oz and the 5" around 1/2 oz total. Plenty of weight for casting. Too much weight to put these on an Alabama rig in my opinion.
