During the power outage following a tornado in NC, my family got through three nights with this candle as a night light in the hall and to help us find the bathroom. You just need to make sure you buy enough refill candles to last however long you think you'll be without light. I bought two more of these lanterns, one for each of my boys for future camping trips.

This is a very compact lantern. I bought this lantern couple days ago and ive used it a couple times already. The lighting isnt that great but will light your way. Best of uses: power outages, camping, fishing.

These things are great in the campsite around the fire - they throw enough light to keep you out of the brush and tent guy lines but not so much that it looks like a stadium. One really great thing I like - they are silent. One drawback - when the candle burns down it makes a mess of melted wax in the bottom.

The UCO Candle Lanterns are great! I picked up 2 and I love them. They are very compact, and the candles last a long time (only 8 hours, and not the 9 advertised...but it's still 8 hours!). I'd tell all my friends to buy one (or more) for camping, storms, hiking...whatever!
