A:
The advantage for the K series alconite guides compared to the Fuji titanium frame SIC guides used on the original Johnny Morris series rods is that the K series guides are more tangle free -- especially when fishing with one of the newer super braid lines. Alconites also cost less -- keeping overall rod cost down.

Both titanium frame SIC guides and recoil guides flex better which can be an advantage, and SIC guides are harder than alconite guides.

A:
Definitely not!

The titanium framed SiC guides that were on last years model were much better but they also cost more so I'm sure BPS went to stainless steel framed alconite guides to save money.

FYI: The rod price is lower this year and the cheaper guides probably play a big part in that.
