  • IM6 graphite blank
  • Pac Bay® Hialoy guides
  • Lightweight graphite reel seat
  • Comfortable cork handles
Incredibly tough, incredibly sensitive rods! Bass Pro Shops Graphite Series Trigger Rods are versatile, everyday, workhorse rods featuring our uniformly strong IM6 graphite blank mated with Pac Bay Hialoy guides, for long distance casting performance, and our own super-comfortable, lightweight graphite reel seat. Then we add a gorgeous finish for a rod that looks and performs like those costing twice the price.
Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome rods. These are telescoping rods. But only the first 1 1/2 foot section between the reel seat and first rod eye slide into each other. And the length goes from 7 1/2 foot to 6 foot when inserted. They are tough and durable rods. I had them before for many years when chartering and loved them, especially when storing them below in a cabin style boat. Those rods went with the sale of that boat. But I thought ahead and know the storage space in the floor of the new boat I'm getting will be less of a hassle if storing shorter rods. These newer ones are the BP Graphite Series IM-6 Heavy Fast Action. GPS76HT-T 7'6". I wanted the stiffer action for pulling in-line planer boards. These are light, sensitive but strong rods that you could hold all day for a one man trolling missions or cast if you wanted to. They have real cork handles and come with tremendously strong and long reel seat worm gears, that accepts any style reel and tightens them to the rod like a vise. I've seen and had to many others that slipped or jumped a thread when really cranking them down. These do not. The rods themselves are priced great price and are finish rapped beautifully. Rated 1 out of 5 by Specs missing If the spec would have specified that the rod was telescopics i would of pass and get another one. BPS should know better that detail is important !! Very disapointed at BPS! March 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by really good rod i've had this rod for one fishing season and it has performed very well. i have the 7'6" heavy action rod and i use it for heavy slop fishing and froggin. i also double it as my muskie rod and it can handle the large baits very well. the guides are good for braided line and won't get damaged by it. the backbone of this rod is very sturdy and has just the right amount of flex at the tip. you can't beat it for the price. January 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Value I have always had cheaper BPS rods for the boys as they grew up and for myself, for river fishing. I used another brand of graphite rods for myself, and for lake fishing.. The quality has declined a great deal on my other brand, so I went shopping for a good value graphite rod. I settled on this rod last year, and purchased four casting rods when they were on sale. Just this week, I purchased another. The quality is excellent, along with very good line quides. I also like the good quality cork handles, that has a separate reel tightening feature, from the handle. This is a very good value rod at this price point. October 10, 2013

Not sure of your usage. If subject to breakage, I would buy a cheaper rod.

A:
I'd have to say you might be better off with a saltwater conventional rod for porgies. Not knowing what size lead you'll be using, or how deep the water being fished. This rod makes a great casting rod for bass, pike, weakfish, schoolie blues and stripers. Not so sure it would hold up to the rigors of party boat fishing with a lot of lead and a couple of 2+ pound porgies fighting to stay on the bottom

The micro guide casting rods do not have a telescoping handle. Only the standard 7'6" standard Bionic Blade version has the telescoping handle. BTW that rod is great for frog fishing in the heavy slop

Yes, and a nice open hook keeper so if you fish Texas rigged baits, you'll have no problems keeping them rigged and at the ready

A:
no, it just means that the rod is meant to be used in situations where that type of line is required. unless you are focusing on an ultra lite approach, I would pick a heavier rod for those larger species that you might be after with such heavy 30 lb line.
