We believe strongly in catch-and-release fishing. That's why our Gold Series net features rubber dipped polyester, small-loop conservation netting in a shallow, flat-bottom design that keeps fish unharmed and supported safely while you remove the hook. Equipped with an anodized-aluminum handle for the perfect balance of strength and minimal weight. Net depth: 18''.  Telescoping handle: 34"-67".

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fast & Affordable Super uber fast shipping through Bass Pro, 2 days from time I ordered and delivered on Saturday! This is my 2nd net of this series, I have both sizes with Telescoping handles. Handles lock & unlock easy, rubber grips even when wet. The net is durable and less fish get caught up in the net. Would definitely recommend! May 5, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by I like this net This was a replacement for a lost net. This net has a much longer handle than I expected. I got the 20"x22" hoop and it looks to be big enough for fairly large fish. I was/am somewhat concerned about the way the handle attaches to the hoop and I may do what others have done (replace the spring-loaded button with a bolt/nut combo). However, I recently used it to net some hatchery trout in a local lake and it did not show any inclination to bend or come apart. It seems to be very stout with quality components. I'm confident it will handle larger fish, too. I like the net design (flat bottom). It helps prevent tangling, as does the coating on the net material. Much more superior than knotted nylon without coating. The long handle makes netting fish coming from behind the boat and motor a lot easier than with my last net (which also had an extendable handle, but not as long as this net's handle). The friction collar which controls handle length does take some getting used to, but it seems manageable. April 15, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great net Great net at a really good price. First outing put about 25 fish in the boat and used the net about half the time. Moves easy in the water and hook removal is quick. Thanks Bass Pro. April 11, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice net We needed a way to relocate a group of larger channel cat and this is a great net; sturdy, extending, and large enough to snag several at a time. March 29, 2011

you might be able to catch a few bait fish but the holes are just big enough so that most smaller shad might get through but you could probably catch larger shad

you could drill holes every 6 inches or so and get a pin with a wire that locks around for easy removal and placement. make sure to drill holes through both poles in the same spot. thats what i would do
