I use these to spear smelts through the ice! It works great for that application! Where I'm from spearing smelts is a tradition that goes back many decades! I used a lot of home stuff, but nothing really holds up for to long! Because of the salt water and getting stuck on the bottom every once in while! These last quite a while and they work well!

Ordered 3 of these (4 prong frog gigs) 2 of the 3 broke in the first night. The heads are SMALL and the mounting location is too small to fit a broom handle in so you have to widen them, causing the prongs to get loose and break. Not happy at all!
