great product. Installed with the screws provided in my fiberglass console. Bumped it this weekend while battling a giant catfish. It broke apart at the hinges, but it was designed to do that. Went right back together and solid as a rock. Plus holds drinks good.

I bought two of these and had the same experience as most with the unit not staying shut. Then I bought a package of hair ties, basically cloth covered rubber bands, and mounted one so it could go around the top of the unit when closed. It stays in place because it is between the back of the unit and boat bulkhead and is not in the way when open like a clip could be. Now when I want to put in a drink, I flip up the band and unfold the holder all with one hand. Putting it away is just as easy since I flip the base up and pull the hair tie down and around again to hold it in place. The package of hair ties has 20 for just over a dollar so when they get brittle or stretch out, I will loosen the screws and replace the tie toot-sweet.
