I used the winch 2 times in a river that was high with strong current both times i used it. The winch worked excellent with a 15 # anchor. Would recommend the winch in any setting. I installed it on a Lowes Bassboat 16 footer

I love the unit the only drawback is it said in the catalogue switch can mount remotely this is not true
you have to buy a 2ed switch or cut in to the wires and move the switch and cut a plate to cover the hole.
Not cool bass pro this was a deciding factor when I picked this unit

I carefully mounted the Fisherman Anchor Winch on our 17' fiberglass Bass Boat. Since my boat has double walls, I used butterfly nuts/bolts to mount it. Because of some of the other reviews I went ahead and greased the cover screws, switch screws, and the switch. I also replaced the existing rope with 75 feet of good quality 1/4" Nylon rope. My intentions were to prevent future problems. I even painted the cover to match our boat. I purchased the winch at my local Bass Pro Shop, so there were no damaged components. My wife and I fish for catfish in a river near our home. Sometimes we will move 6 or 8 times during a fishing trip. Because we fish below a Lock & Dam sometimes the water is very swift, causing it to be very hard to pull our boat up stream by hand to where the anchor is located. But not anymore. The Fisherman Anchor Winch is very powerful and is already saving my back. It is so easy to use my wife doesn't mind winching up the anchor on ocassions. If our winch is ever damaged, or stops working, I will immediately replace it with another one just like it. I recommend this winch to all anglers that use an anchor quite often.

There are two options for an additional switch on the anchor winch. The first is a 2nd switch kit (T10115) item number 38-534-382-00 which has 24’ wiring with harness hook ups, switch, switch plate and 4 screws. Hooks the wiring in at the unit and then runs it to the helm and mounts the switch at the helm. The other offering they have is a remote (T10116). With this option the customer exchanges the relay box that comes with the unit (under the housing) with the new relay box that has the receiver. It also comes with the fob to operate the unit from anywhere in the boat. This option takes about 5 minutes to install. With both options the switch on the cover works as well. The Fisherman Anchor Winch features power-up and power-down operation with a switch that is installed on the winch cover. To raise the anchor, press and hold the button with the arrow that points UP. Release the button when the anchor is docked or when you wish to stop the retrieval of the anchor. I have a 20' "Bass Buggy" with short "toons forward. Mounting here was not my choice due to access (limited) and exposure. I mounted the pulley/safety catch forward and ran the anchor line through the lower wall (allowed enough cut out for sideways travel back onto the spool) plus the unit can be reached from the forward seat - works for me...
A:
1. Locate anchor roller on deck in desired location. The anchor roller must be located at the edge of the deck and mustextend over the edge to allow the anchor to clear the deck when it is docked in the anchor roller.
2. Look below the deck and check for any obstructions underneath the desired anchor roller location. Also make sure
there is enough space for the winch to be placed in-line with rope spool centered on the anchor roller.
3. Using a marker or pencil, mark the anchor roller mounting holes on the deck.
4. Remove anchor roller. Drill the holes.
5. Secure the anchor roller to the deck using three bolts, nuts and washers. Use fender washers and/or marine plywood
under the deck to ensure the greatest strength and to spread the load.
6. Place winch on boat deck and align the center of the rope spool with the center of the anchor roller.
7. Look below the deck and check for any obstructions underneath the desired anchor winch mounting location.
8. Mark and drill the holes. There are four 5/16” bolt mounting holes and two 5/16” holes for the battery lead wires.
