Not what it used to be, returned
I started using Excel when i was 9 years old pulling in a 40 pound catfish on 6lb test with the drag all the way cranked down. Also before they changed over to China i pulled in a 30lb striper in heavy current on 10lb test. I really don't care about price it WAS a good quality line. Now its really stiff, twists really easily. kinks, diameter very inconsistent, and it breaks off really easy. Total junk........ Bass Pro needs to go back to the old stuff instead of just trying to maximize profit having it made in China. The only person this line appeals to are the frugal fisherman who care only about price not quality. so disappointed... Switched to original Stren

why mess with winning formula!?!??
I and all my fellow rabid fishermen have been using excel for years. Never failed us , Blue green and black box, jumbo spools, it was great. Then we tried the "new formula" . I was astounded< and not in a happy happy happy way. This new formula is garbage , too much memory, too many break offs, too much stripped off our reels to scrounge the last bit of the "old formula" from the tackle box. Please oh please go back to the old formula!!!! We would even pay a few bucks more to get the good stuff back!!!!

I have used Bass pro line for years. I ran out of #8LB. and purchased a new spool. The new line was a lot stiffer and looped all the time. I checked a spool of the old line I had and saw what the difference was, the old line was made in the USA and the new line was made in CHINA. I have downgraded this line for use only on my jigging spoon set up where the only thing I am doing is dropping my spoon and not casting it.
