The Bass Pro Shops® E-Z Lure Retriever Kit rescues all lure types—even live bait rigs. Its unique design takes it easily past sinkers and hardware. For lures too well snagged to be bounced free, the chains will entangle the hooks, allowing you to pull the lure free with the added feature of a wind-up line retriever. Includes 30' cord.

Pays for itself This works at least 1/3 of the time, maybe up to 2/3 of the time, depending on the situation. But it's better than losing the lure. I'm happy with it because it's simple, fairly easy to use, and given it's low price, paid for itself after about 2 - 3 days of fishing. Do your self a favor, and get the version with the little reel to hold line. Keeps things neat underfoot, stores better, and avoids tangles in the line. Can't say the quality of the reel is great, but hey, it's only $15 and does the job. September 18, 2012
lure retriver i have actually got 2 of these i lost the first one because it got snagged and the twine snapped and i lost it so i got another one and it snagged on rocks trying to retrive a crank bait and lucky for me a fisherman on a small boat used his net to wiggle the rocks loose, dont get me wrong this has paid for itself a few times over it has saved quite a few cranks for me along with rattle traps. Paid for itself first time we took it fishing! You will never loose your baits again. We recovered three baits the first time we when fishing after purchasing this retriever. Without it the baits would still be in the lake. June 27, 2012
E-Z Lure Retriever Kit I bought this item and it works as advertised as I have recovered several crank baits that we stuck in brush piles while I was trolling. It's one of those items that if you recover just a few crank baits that are snagged you have paid for the item. No one wants to lose a crank bait at todays cost for new ones and while this item is not fool proof this item does a great job abd helping you recover lures and save money. I highly recommended this item. May 25, 2012

Most lure retreivers I've seen only work when you can get directly above the stuck lure. Will this one work for shore fishermen?

A:
Yes you can use it from shore. Hold the line tight and the retriever slides down your fishing line. Bounce the retriever until it's chain grabs the hooks on your lure and bring it in.

i have used it from the shore... it might just be me not knowing how to use it, but when i did use it from the shore, it couldnt even reach the lure, and its not because my lure was stuck too far... the retriever got stuck in the rocks itself, so i lost both lure and retriever

A:
I have not tried it from shore. You pretty much need to be almost directly above the stuck lure for it to be effective. If you have this type of condition from shore, it will work good. From the boat, in the wind or where there is water current, this is not as effective.
