Would somebody please describe how the rod holder works on this vest. I've never seen that feature on a fishing vest. If you own the vest, does the feature work well? Good for only smaller rods? How about a 10" Salmon fishing rod? Thanks.Answers
A:Â
If you have a 10" Salmon fishing rod you can probably hold it between your teeth. You probably mean 10', in which case you can simply place the upper half of the rod, between the guides, into the velcro strap and close it around the rod. It just hangs there. I've only done this with lighter fly rods, your Salmon rod might be a bit heavy for this rod holder.A:Â
its a velcro strap.1 year, 11 months ago
A:Â
The only place you could hang a rod from are the tiny plastic loops under the pockets but i wouldnt try it. a 10" rod you could give it a try.A:Â
Hi, I have the hunter version of your vest what i did to hold my fly rod 8.5" and 9", I clip the top of the rod in the velcro strap and add an computer velcro cable tie in one of the bottom dring and clip this around the handle of my rod. This work good for me.A:Â
I don't know if you are familiar with Columbia or Magellan fishing shirt? Well that little velcro strap with the Columbia/Magellan name on it is a rod holder. It is desighned that you set the rod butt on the floor and strap your rod to your chest. This is used for fixxing your bait/fly or for retieing. This vest has that strap.Top 25 Contributor
A:Â
Its just a small velcro strap that wraps around your rod. It is used to free your hands temporarily, thats all. I use it sometimes when I am switching lures on my kayak. The biggest rod Ive used with the strap was an 8'MH Baitcast combo. Keep in mind that the handle of the rod is either resting on my lap or kayak. I imagine if you are wading in shallow waters like a river or stream, your reel might be dunked under water. I wouldnt recommend using the strap to support the full weight of your setup. Im pretty sure its not meant for that.Details:Â
what is the chest size forXL---XL2----XL3
Answers
A:Â
my belly is 50" and the 2XL was just rightsomewhere on the web site i think it says the size in inches
A:Â
I have the XL it is a 42 to 46 chest sizeA:Â
The XL fits me great and I'm a 44-46 (depending on the last few months)A:Â
From the tag:XL 44-48"
2XL 48-52"
3XL 52-56"
Definitely order at least one size larger if you plan to wear over coats, etc. We foudn this to run on the extra small side.

are these vests for people who are not very good swimmers ?Answers
A:Â
Yes its an approved vest. I do not recommend it if you are trying to teach someone to swim or plan to frequently be in the water or swim with it. But if you fall overboard and have assistance close by, I do not see why this vest wouldnt work.A:Â
They hold you at water level. Meaning water about the shoulders. But you will not sink in one if its worn correctly.A:Â
Yes. It is pretty much impossible to submerge your torso or head wearing this vest (and I weigh 280 Lbs!!!).A:Â
The vest is designed for anyone. You can swim with it or just float.Top 50 Contributor
A:Â
These vests, if worn properly are designed to keep you afloat (USCG approved) in calm seas. However, I would contact the local Coast Guard Auxilliary for specific types to use for adult non-swimmers.Details:Â
I am seeing a number of structural differences in the 2 colors:D-rings at the bottom of one, not the other
D-ring in the back of one, not the other
Rod holder on one, not on the other
Can anyone confirm that they are exactly the same?

I have a XL Olive drab one. Two D rings in the front, none on the back. No rod holderTop 25 Contributor
A:Â
When I purchased mine over a year ago, I noticed a few differences in the store. the green one had the pole holder and the black on did not. I picked up the green one and do not have a d-ring in the back nor under the collar. I picked the green one because I thought the rod holder would be handy on my kayak, but I never use it. Im not sure if these are different versions that were released or not.Q:Â

Most vests I have purchased have a ringlet for wading with a stringer.Does this vest have one?
Answers
A:Â
Yes, there are two D-rings at the bottom, in the front of the vest.A:Â
I assume you mean on the back collar. This doesn't have one even thought I think one of the pictured colors shows one. I bought the green and it didn't have one.A:Â
Vest has two plastic d-rings on the bottom - one on each side. Should be strong enough for a stringer. They're not in the photo for the olive color but you can see them in the photo of the black one.A:Â
If you are talking about a ring on the vest to attach a stringer or tie a stringer then yes it does have two at least.Answers

The arm sockets are large enoughfor easy casting. The eight pockets
ride high providing accessable and adequate storage.
