ok my dad and i went trout fishing and pulled out a 3 prong umbrella rig and slade the trout 10 to my 3 in in what seemed like no time so i says i am geting one of those i went out that night to get one well all they had was this 5 prong one so i got that one and went out a couple of days later it took me like 10 min to rig it up went to cast and (pop) a 20 dallor bill on the bottom of the river never even got to cast it ones DO NOT GET THE 5 PRONG ITS TO HEAVY GET THE 3 PRONG ONE THEY ARE GRATE

Great concept, caught a 2lb large mouth first day using.we also lost it the first day its very heavy and unless you have a heavy duty rod set up i dont recomend this lure.We bought 2 of them so we have started rigging the other with smaller shad.This thing truley does attract bigger fish!!

...like...i use the berkley 3" ripple shad...and other 3" shad (4) of the 3" and (1) 4" shad on the middle...butt..pretty much any rubber bodies will work i have also used twin~tails on the middle......i have caught the little "stripes" and the walleye on thi bp umbrella...St.Clair river baby...!!!...

Braids and superlines are the lines of choice. As for the test weight, those in the upper ranges (above 50 pound test) would be recommended due to the weight of this lure.Details:Â

...like...i have caught the walleye on the bp umbrella during the summertime in the St.Clair river...right about the weeds and hit it...*stay off the bottom*...and the love will come...i use (4) 3" shad and (1) 4" shad...works out nicley...

This could work for Walleyes (as well as any other fish) if they are actively feeding on balls of baitfish. It's probably not recommended though as walleye tend to feed near the bottom, especially during daylight hours. Lures such as jigs and bottom bouncers may work better, as well as crankbaits that are trolled.Details:Â
I've seen these rigs fished primarily with jigheads and was wondering has anyone fished these with swimbait hooks, like a Trokar screw-lock? Or even weighted swimbait hooks?Answers

...like...i live near the St.Clair river...i use it in the river all the time...the fish police i have asked them BEFORE i scored these...at least they are acceptable in the St.Clair river...Lake Huron...and Lake St.Clair....they are so fun with the little "stripes"...i have had up to four at a time and the croud is stunned...im cool like that...A:Â
The Fishing Guide states "No more than three lines per person (including tip-ups) nor more than six hooks or lures may be used. All hooks attached to an artificial bait or 'night crawler harness' are counted as one hook." So you could attach five lures.A:Â
Actually it is 6 hooks in Michigan. But make sure you check your local DNR laws.

It is very likely that you would, but to be on the safe side check with the local game & fish authorities. I'm sure they can tell you. GOOD LUCK!!A:Â
Check with your state DNR to see if they have addressed this issue with this particular lure, they are allowing them in Indiana for now. You could also use swimbaits, 2 with hooks, the rest as "teasers," very effectively.

That means you can only have 2 hooks you will be ticketed if caught using more. A popular way to get around this problem is to use willow blades in place of swimbaits in the remaining spots.A:Â
You'll get a ticket if you are using more than the number of hooks allowed.. However instead of using it with just 2 hooked lures you could always rig hookless ones to keep the balance of the rig. Sorta like an umbrella rig where not all the baits have hooks in them... Just a thought.

Check with your local game official. Here in Missouri, we are limited to 3 hooks. This rig is still considered legal, but you may only have three hooks on the unit (meaning to spots would be left void).1 of 1
