Some say a good crappie pole is worth its weight in gold, and super-versatile, well-balanced rods like these are the reason. The universal reel seat accepts any reel: baitcasting, spinning, or spincast! Premium IM6 graphite blanks with moderate action. Features include Pac Bay Hialoy guides and EVA handle.

Crappie fishing has come a long way. What used to be a family-based live bait fishery now supports high-profile tournaments that draw the best anglers from around the country. This exposure has brought a ton of deadly new crappie-catching techniques into play, many of which require specialized gear. That's where Crappie Maxx™ Rods really shine. They're designed by the sharpest crappie anglers in the business, to handle everything from tightlining to spider-rigging to traditional live bait systems. So no matter how you prefer to chase your slabs, in Crappie Maxx you'll find a rod that's specially made to make your day.
Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent sensitivity Excellent rod for panfish. The rod is light weight but not wimpy! Handles 3/4oz lead for spider rigs.. July 11, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by good purchase Like the rod. Should have got a shorter one. A little to heavy at the handle May 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Purchase Purchased rod to attempt fisring larger streams with a long rod at a reasonable price. Purchased the 14' three section which was important in that it breabs down to 4'8" to fit in the trunk. Results are that I am better able to manage currents and therefore the drift. The results have been more fish however you have to be willing to pay a price and there are tradeoff's. The price is a bulkey rod that is heavey and does take getting use to for changing hooks and managint tangkes. The trade off's are you cah not get into a lot of places, you have to back up wrere room allows and you will hit every thee in sight if you are not totally aware of your surroundings. March 27, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Crappie Maxx Rod Combined with a new Quantum Spinning reel model from this year, it is a great fit. The handle took a little while getting used too but is fine now. Wish I could of gotten with the cork handle but wasn't in stock. For my type of fishing it reaaly works good, and provides excellent hook sets and longer casting distances. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an 8' rod for panfish. June 24, 2011

A:
I haven't trolled with this rod yet, but used a 1/2 oz. sinker and 2 1/8 oz jigs for spider rigging and it handled them with ease. This rod has a soft tip , with plenty of backbone.
I'm sure it would troll small cranks very well. Keep in mind, it's a 'pandish' rod.
Good luck..
