Rated 5 out of 5 by DrNip UL 9' Rod
1st day out bank fishing on this UL 9' rod and caught 30 (26 crappie & 4 saugeye) in 3 hours fishing parallel with the shore line about 5 foot out. Simple cast and retrieve was used with slip bobber and 2' leader rigged with 1/8 oz red jig baited with live minnows and various blue/white, chartreuse and red/chartreuse soft baits. Had Crappie Maxx reel teamed up with it. Never new what I was missing out on until this UL rod. Hook sets where a breeze. To date, best rod I've used and would recommend it to anyone.

MY DAD BOUGHT ME THE 12' MIGHTY LITE ROD FOR CHRISTMAS. IT WAS THE LAST THING HE EVER BOUGHT ME BEFORE HE DIED. YES, IT HAS SENTIMENTAL VALUE, BUT IT IS THE BEST ROD I HAVE EVER USED FOR CRAPPIE FISHING. THE SENSETIVITY IS SECOND TO NONE! I AM A SERIOUS CRAPPIE FISHERMAN, SO I CERTAINLY WANT THE BEST EQUIPMENT WHEN I GET OUT ON THE WATER. THE MIGHTY LITE ROD IS BY FAR THE BEST I HAVE EVER HELD IN MY HANDS!!!

I went with the 8 ft rod and have loved every minute with it. I put a Wavespin reel on it and it has been nothing but a blast. Castability is beautiful and you can realIy control where you are placing your jig.
I have caught more bass than crappie on the rod. The largest bass was a bit over 4 lbs and I felt like a little kid again...the action was great.

I bought the 8' UL crappie maxx rod and I have it paired with the crappie maxx spinning reel with 10# mono/braid hybrid line. I was wondering if there is a better reel or line to put on the reel as it seems that my cast distance is very short. I have a different 6' UL rod and reel combo that can cast twice as far with the same type of jig. There seems to be excess friction with the amount of eyelets, but on average, I can cast around 30-40' with this combination. Any tips for a better combo to increase casting distance?1 of 1
