I fish a lake near my house that has bass that rarely grow over six pounds. Would this be able to handle a three to six pound bass?

Oh, and also, can this reel be casted?

Theyve handled a few 3lb bass and a couple of 2lb crappie. And thats using 6lb Crappie Maxx line.
If I get a 6lb on i will let you know.

You can't cast it. It does not have a free spool release.

This reel is not really for casting. It is for tight lining and very slow trolling.
