Not worth the money I bought this thinking its a floating fish basket, what a joke! Luckily I had it on a cheap nylon stringer tied on the basket because I put the basket in the water EMPTY, and it sunk like a rock! Not worth my time or trouble to return it because I dont live close to a Bass Pro Shop. Buyer beware, have it tested in the store before you purchase this thing June 13, 2009
Keeps Catch Alive and Safe I picked this net because it sinks and I can lower it to a depth where the water temp is much cooler than at the surface and as a result my catch has a much better survival rate. Also, it protected my catch from a giant snapping turtle looking for an easy meal. Last year my son-in-law, Todd, lost a wonderful stringer of pike to probably the same turtle. August 18, 2010
Terrible Product I purchased the Jumbo Floating Fish Basket to use while freshwater fishing; WITH REGRET!!! The basket is terrible. For starters, it doesn’t float. Further, the clasp would not hold and the majority of the fish we put in it had gotten away before we noticed. I can’t speak for the other baskets, but the (supposed) floating one isn’t worth anything!!! January 29, 2010
Floating fish basket Loved the other one I had, but it finally gave up the ghost and so I got another one. If I hadn't liked the first one, I wouldn't have bought this one. It's great for small pond fishing, which is what I do. I would imagine it would be great for other areas as well, but I like knowing where the basket is when I'm in the middle of catching fish. A:
You have to think of the size bait your using. If your using shiners/minnows then most likely they will escape but if your using something like mid-large size shad then it will be fine.

Thank you for your question. It would depend on the size of the bait. The mesh holes are 1/2"-3/4". I would recommend the Floating Fish Basket if you decide to use it for this purpose.

its an alternative to stringers. you catch the fish and store them in this basket until you are ready to leave. major benefit to this is its 99% turtle proof, and used properly 99% escape proof
