Bass Pro Shops Collapsible Fish Baskets
Poor quality of wire mesh
I have now had two of these baskets. The 1st lasted two seasons (use only two months each season). The second was bought last year and used 3 times. Used it twice this year and lost fish because the mesh rusted away and allowed fish to escape. The same thing happened to the first one (it actually rusted out all over and fell apart). Must be the wire mesh is made of tin. When they work they are great, but do not trust them to hold your fish!

Keep One In Your Boat
These keep fish in excellent condition. At the end of the day you can decide whether or not you want to keep your catch. As for the guy who complained about it not floating--Who cares? You have to pull it out of the water to get your fish in anyway. If you don't, you risk tossing your fish into the lake rather than your basket. It is handy to have one at each end of the boat when the crappies are biting well.

Great Large Fish Basket
I bought large size basket to hold catfish from 4-8 ponds. I catch these fish in late spring and early summer and use the basket until the heat runs me off of the lake. I have a 25 gallon fabricated live well in the jon boat I use, but on good days, it fills up pretty fast. So the large basket serves as the back up plan. I have used these since the early 60's and have always had good service out of them. They all lasted a long time if they were rinsed and hung to dry after use. I always tied the bottom shut to prevent fish lose and turtle entry. On occasion we used small inner tubes as floats around the funnel of the basket. If you move your boat with a trolling motor while fishing, the basket could be towed directly behind the boat and the tube would hold your fish up. This way allows the boat move straight, but does put drag on the boat. Just remember to pull the basket in before the start the gas motor. Good luck!
