This is my take I got the jumbo floating basket. I have one that floats, just not quite as big. I really wanted one that didn't float. The reason is because of the hot days, and I didn't want the fish to get too hot if I happened to stay a little longer. Well, I was in luck. The floating basket didn't float at all. Plus when I got it home, I noticed that there was a place where the wires were broke. I didn't take it back because it's about an hour and a half from home. I know that this seems kind of a bad review, but all in all, it worked out for me. The floating part if you want one, well, you better or better yet BPS, make sure that the floating basket floats. Mine didn't , but that was what I wanted. July 21, 2008
Better than a stringer I love these fish baskets. I've used them countless times when I wasn't quite sure if we were gonna keep the fish or release them because we hadn't caught enough fish yet to decide. The basket is roomy and when you tie a stringer to it you can stick the stringer point in the ground and push the fish out of the shallows and into some deeper water where the fish stand a better chance. I have even tied the basket to my fly fishing vest so when I'm wading I can keep my fish alive and kicking. May 28, 2008
Must have creel keeper. First, I want to adress the quality complaints. I have owned this product for years. Mine usually last about 5 years because I abuse them. I leave mine exposed to the weather and they finally rust out. It is my fault., because with the proper maintain they could last for years. Take care of it and it will last. One word of advise, I always put a plastic electrical wire faster on the bottom door so it does not open. I hate to loose fish. Now to the great part about these baskets, they keep the fish alive. I have had over a hundred Bluegill in mine (basket C) and they stil float. I put 3 to 5 pound cats in mine with no problem. I have fited a 8 pound White perch as well. I am going to get basket A this time because it has even more room. I think this is the best way to creel my fish and keep them fresh and alive, that I have found for bank fishing. December 3, 2007
Great Buy I have had this basket for 4 years now and I would not fish without it. I suppose if you need to leave it in the lake for months at a time it's not for you, but if you are a normal everyday fisherman and want a good tool to keep your fish alive in, this product is for you. I have had over 25 fish in it and it always floats. September 21, 2007

A:
You have to think of the size bait your using. If your using shiners/minnows then most likely they will escape but if your using something like mid-large size shad then it will be fine.

Thank you for your question. It would depend on the size of the bait. The mesh holes are 1/2"-3/4". I would recommend the Floating Fish Basket if you decide to use it for this purpose.

its an alternative to stringers. you catch the fish and store them in this basket until you are ready to leave. major benefit to this is its 99% turtle proof, and used properly 99% escape proof
