The Bass Pro Shops Cat-O-Matic lures, catches and automatically holds all takers. Made from galvanized steel, the Cat-O-Matic is equipped with a tempered spring that automatically sets the hook when the trigger is released by a fish taking the bait. Popular among crappie and catfish anglers, simply attach the Cat-O-Matic to a limb or a boat dock a couple of inches above the water and let the reel do the rest. 4 pack. Is there a patent issue

Details: 
I got a one box of Automatic Fishing Reel
which company is "mechanical fisher's" They said they applied patent for this product. If it's true, can you sell this without infringement their patent? Please advise, thanks.

it does not pull the fish out of the water unless the catch is a bluegill or other small fish

It would keep the line tight but would not pull even 12 inch fish out of the water.

I had one simular to this unit a few years ago ,and if you are fishing for Brim/bluegill ,yes it will reel them in ! It was strong enough to do that when I owned one! "Good Luck!"
