  • Strong wire stands up to big cats
  • Barbed shank holds bait in place
  • Hook sets itself
Bass Pro Shops CatMaxx Circle Hooks are made of strong wire that stands up to big cats. The barbed shank holds the bait firmly in place. The CatMaxx Circle Hook sets itself—there is no need to guess when to set the hook!

Rated 5 out of 5 by awesome hooks i bought these hooks last year and they are great.I was not sure they would handle a fish of good size but a 17lb channel and 26 lb blue proved me wrong.Best of all is the price March 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by What A Great Hook I fish for big cats in the St Louis and St Charles Mo area. I purchased the 9/0 hooks was very surprised how well they work. These hooks are very sharp and strong. On Sept 6th night fishing on the Mississippi River I caught a 80lb Blue. That was my P/B. September 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hook and awesome value The 9/0 are the perfect all around catfish hook. They are super sharp and are a great value for the money! September 1, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by This review is for the no 9 circle hook We purchased this hook with the intention of fishing for respectable Grouper in the Bahamas. I tied 4 leaders in advance of leaving and found that one of the leaders dropped off the hook. I couldn't believe it, and thought that I did something wrong! Upon inspection, I found that the eye of that hook was not completely closed. Despite me using 97 lb wire, the opening at the eye was so large, that the wire easily came out. First hook I have ever seen do that! I had to close all the eyes by hand, which was a major job. Over 1/2 the 25 hooks in the box were terrible. The other half were ok. June 28, 2013

They are inline however, many people give them a light offset with plyers.

Circle hooks are mostly unknown by those that don't salt water fish, they almost always hook into the side of the mouth, are self hooking, only a tug is need to set hook, saves a lot of fish that would swallow the hook.

I don't see why not, although I've never fished for smallmouth with these, catfish and ocean fish mostly, almost always hooks in side of the mouth.

A:
These would not be optimal for small mouth....Don't use live bait or set the hook sooner = less guthooks.
